I would have thought with CNC machining and laser/plasma cutting getting band wheels machined should not in any way be difficult or expensive. Or use a pneumatic tyre like Turner's do. In respect of CE certification, no idea, or comment.

I worked my way up through the supposedly higher quality = most expensive, but highest g/m2 weight offen ebay. no good, eyelets pulled out. Bought a genuine high quality poly tarp off Cunningham covers. Eyelets stayed put, but the tarp ripped. Sticking to sheets of tin, damaged polycarbonate, whatever else I can get. And very very very very well ballasted. Ah hate wind. Acutally considering a "Blueline" or "Global Steel" type shed with one or both ends open, cunningly sited to keep most of the wind blown rain out. Or fit the end with the doors next the wind and omit to fit the rear gable. Then shut the doors to keep the rain out, but open them to let the dreaugth in. A pity our weather always comes from the South West. About 30' by 50' bugger, foiled The bandsawmill ud tak priority to be under such cover. Need another bloody shed. Or a much bigger one. sigh. Better work a wheen more years yet to pay for the retirment toys.

The other unfortunate side effect that affects anyone who has quite innocently been involved in a RTA without being found at fault. Is the Insurance Industry now regards ANY incident or claim regardless of assigned liability as a "red flag" i.e. The classic rear end shunt was ALWAYS taken to be the fault of the driver behind. But those staging claims for cash will always be in the car in front. Which stands the whole liability issue on its head. This is the only mechanism they have to attempt to prevent repeated malicious claims. All of which is why I bought myself and our daughter a "RoadHawk" for Christmas before past. this Gizmo, as well as recording video footage, records GPS data, speeds and "G" forces. Should be mandatory on all cars.

Again in praise of softwood/conifer. I lit our Morso stove on Monday evening. With 5 pieces of split conifer firewood, 10" long by 4 to 6" across, arranged around a limited amount of newspaper, i.e. about 1/2 a freebie paper. No kindling what-so-ever, merely the split dry surface of the sticks.(which had been sitting beside the stove for 24 hrs) It took immediately. There was however a good draught. marcus

I was. . . happenstance. looking at Cook's again. But price against spec they are much of a muchness with TimberKing. Plus Cooks suspend the hydraulics overhead on their lower priced mills (being 3 out of their 4 models) only the top spec HD36 mill gets the better arrangment as per TimberKings standard arrangment. And I like my hydraulics neatly packaged in TK's "energy chain" Thanks Jonothan. Aswales I will look at Fuelwoods site, though I suspect the Autotrek mill bes well pricy. I looked at the HD36, and whilst appreciating the battery stored energy being used to power the hydraulics, was attempting to avoid any 12V stuff if poss. Plus a fully specced HD36 is the same kind of money as any other hyd mill. Though at least I could buy the basic HD36 and "bolt-on" whatever extras I desired as required. Am I right in thinking Beech is good for internal work, as I recall School desks being made of Beech. And cheap chairs, made from Beech stained up to look like more exotic hardwood. But unsuitable for external or weather exposed use. Hazard a guess?, easily worked and finishes well through the planer. m

A sensible idea, I had envisaged some element of "flat packing" for shipping (knowing of an engineer working for a local fabrication company, whose job is to max out their container "stuffing" using different products from within range, and with minor mods to their equipment design if needed!) And I would presume if the TimberKing factory was shipping to a dealership this would also apply. Remove wheels and headworks, chassis on top of other, headworks sat on top of chassis. Unpack and connect up a batch of hydraulic hoses, and bobs somewhat related. However I can understand that if they are shipping direct to a customer, they would rather ship the mill complete and ready to run. cheers marcus
