  1. Flipping obvious (from the apparent age of most of the trees/saplings) that these found objects were placed over the leader shoots(particularly the helmets) or in a forks(artillery shell) of a young tree. To be allowed to grow in. Scheesh!
  2. cough cough wot e said cept fancier. PS Niftysteve, If there is no ceiling (an annular gap), do those rules:lol: still apply. Since the rising room air will insulate around/cool down the flue pipe and prevent heat getting trapped next the ceiling. cheers m
  3. But the tall cylindrical stoves should be able to take long logs stood on their ends, despite the small footprint? Marcus
  4. Normal arrangment: Obviously require to insulate where it goes through the floor, but no reason not to use single skin steel flue pipe upstairs. Or? Consider an annular gap twixt the floor and the flue to allow the excess warm air to rise up through to the upstairs? Because I suspect though some insulation round at least some of the flue is necessary to keep the flu gases hot enough /warm enough so as to ensure a good "draw" ? Also more issues with condensate running back down if the flue is too cold. i.e No free lunches. m
  5. cough cough Just ordered a Viking Mb755KS:thumbup:. After borrowing and trying a well knackered privately owned one. Which stuffed the damp heavy grass right into the back of the Box. Also well hammered together, without being murder heavy . Fingers crossed. m
  6. Simplistically a long reach demolition excavator with the tree killer head on.
  7. Ah nivver even know they existed! A Cat Challenger based bit of Kit I suspect The "Combat Engineer Tractor" was more my vintage. Some o them for sale as well. Without the solid rocket propelled Anchor for the winch rope unfortunately. Werry werry handy for winching oneself up a hostile held riverbank.
  8. your obviously YOUNG yet!
  9. Simply kill with repeated doses of Glypsyophate = brand name "Roundup" Now is a particularly good time for the first dose on the vigerous new growth. Takes multiple applications but you WILL eventually wear it down. Glypsyophate is also PERFECTLY safe. Or cut the stems off at ground level (and dispose of correctly) and pour inject Roundup/glysophate into the hollow stems. regards, Marcus
  10. Mac, (i) I choked on the price. Cos there is much better kit to spend 20+k on out there. (ii) & Like you, I wondered about the stupid low hours. (iii) Or is it just a "Gill in a Pint pot"? in terms of productivity. but Probably grant funded/or NGO type organisation/quasi charity outfit. sigh
  11. I reckoned the "Tempest" in the second clip was a very efficient set up with no wasted ram travel time on the backstroke.(seen working at the 2012 APF Show) I also like the first one. cept he needs a mini elevator(or a simple hydraulic pusher perhaps ?) to raise the split billets up to a waist high table for onward swinging into the billet bundler. And like most logging ops requires more than one operator for a slick operation. Horses for courses. P.S. For ussens here in the "Island of Ireland" a Guiness dispenser would be most appropriate! M

  14. 100% in agree with the above sentiment. Bob "done the right thing" by Paula Yate's children. I admired him for that action. But yes again, like Michael Suchmacher example "aint life fickle". At 55 am fer enjoying myself, just a little. But, cough, cough, why do we pay any attention to this particular death. We did not know the young woman or her family. (I can only presume) So, why comment? It is after all, all over the papers so we already all know. Seriously. Marcus
  15. That would depend on the belt, and its cost! m
  16. Bingo! And like the tag-line I saw somewhere; "It is a known fact that all electronic devices are powered by a puff of smoke, once the smoke is allowed to escape, the device will no longer work" The same applies to belt powered devices.
  17. Excellent!!
  18. Woody, I dont imagine I need a full blown telehandler. Sommat to lift about 1-1.5 tonne max. Though some telescopic capacity would be nice to have. And compact and nimble. . . .above all else. cheers all m PS OMTC.... Grey Goose very nice, only had it the once at a "G" Wagen meet. Perfect consumed "al fresco", and I am not a Vodka drinker either. cheers m
  19. Did you use the Avant to bring the pallet of Vodka direct into the living room OMTC. Or was there no particular connection between your 2 apparently linked statments. I do like the Avant because it is small and properly tyred. The JD 3720 is fablous, with astounding manouverability due to a very very sharp "cut", but the front tyres are a bit skimpy, but that allows for the very tight turn angle. But both will "bulldoze" well above their weight due to the hydrostatic transmission. JD's "Loadmatch" is quite wonderful in how it works. But, yes essentially a small telehander with fat tyres, is prob the best match for my needs.
  20. Hawk an spit. overweight, underpowered, clumsy, cumbersome, etc etc Ah want a quart in a pint pot. Probably with a Japanese diesel engine, i.e. a Yanmar or Kubota. Will take a snoak round at the Spring Show at the Maze in mid May. cheers Marcus PS Decision made re the bandsawmill, just watching the exchange rates. time enough for 6 or 9 months too, as no timber cut to process.
  21. Avant? 3720/4720 J Deere tractor or equivalent Kubota/TYM/Kioti.? Widerman/Kramer type "shovel/telescopic"? JCB TM180? Larger tracked skid-steer? I reckon I dont need another ag tractor. I absolutly want sommat with either hydrostatic or torque convertor transmission. No dry clutchs. To move soil, spoil and logs and firewood, also to bulldoze limited amounts of hardcore, until it is worth getting a tracked digger in. Pref on fat tyres for the Moss/soft ground we are surrounded with. Is there such a machine as to tick all my boxs? Marcus
  22. Absolutly agree, and long overdue.
  23. An theres more!
