  1. The moisture is driven off either before compressing or during the compression/extrusion of the pellets, not after. Work on 4Kw per Kg for "dry" firewood, i.e. at 15 to 20%
  2. 1.9 N/A diesel BX estate, bought with a declared 91,000 miles, it needed various:lol: work/attention, but it never failed me or broke down during a journey. Did the Continent, ex NI, down the length of the Dordogne etc too, a few times as well One tough old motor. marcus
  3. buy a Skoda! or a Citroen or a VW or a Ford or a Renault or a Hillman or a Vauxhall which different marques have never broken down or failed me since about 1978. m
  4. With oversight (to prevent theft) they will however last indefinately:lol:
  5. I beg to differ, in respect of burning wood on the Morso. We have a multifuel Morso, which indeed has the under grate draught facility. But it does not be used to burn wood. Simply leave it closed and open the vents at the rear, or the 2 threaded ventilation knobs on the doors. I actually understood it was more to allow one to "riddle" the grate? Which is all I use it for, and about every fortnight, but then we burn nearly all the waste paper, bank statements, circulars, bumph as well, so these prob cause most of the ash.
  6. I was seriously wondering why the Hell you/anyone was working there? In the business of un-naturing nature I can only presume. Or more accurately preserving a snap-shot in time of the Bogs natural evolution. i.e. Preventing its quite natural progression. Has Natural England not heered-tell of Evolution and the natural geological cycle (lakes filling in and mountains eroding etc) yet? Cheers M
  7. OK Def "wetter" than the Garry Boog then! Thanks, Marcus
  8. Why is this regarded as remarkable:lol::lol: To ussens fea the Garry boog tis normal
  9. see "groundguards" Ground-Guards ground protection solutions astoundingly tough
  10. limited capacity in terms of chain length i ud have thought, though (i presume) the chain drops into a chain locker having been pulled through the notched pullys. Because I intuitively think chain bulkier (and heavier to carry?) than wire, per kg of breaking strain. but plusses are always having "power out" faciity and a constant line pull, even when close in, with no possibility fanked wire rope on the drum.
  11. kumos good/very good apparently, moving steadily upmarket.+Daughter fitted a set to her almost new Yaris, on the advice of the very decent local tyre fitter wot I supply with sticks/logs.
  12. We bought the Octavia in Sept 2010, it came on Turenza tyres, I slid down Drumrammer backwards in the "big sno" we got that autumn. Switched to Continental winters and climbed the same steep brae with no issue, absolute chalk and cheese, with winter tyres one can drive on icy hard packed snow the same as driving in the wet on std tyres. Quite remarkable. I bough a set of steel rims for the winter Contis. I understand that once one gets to about 3 or 4mm of tread one might as well run the Contis done over the summer months as the tread blocks require sufficient depth to function correctly in snow.
  13. I would have thought 200l only suitable for domestic hot water supply, definately cannot physically store enough energy for space heating requirments. The time I plumbed this house (with a 210l hot cyl btw) I noted that the top of the oil boiler driven heating coil was only half way up the tank, I reasoned the logic was the heat/hot water would rise, but that if for whatever reason the hot supply coming from the boiler/a boiler/another heat source ,like solar panels, was cooler, than the water already in the cylinder, it could not strip the heat away from the top of the cylinder. cheers marcus
  14. Darwin was correct, again.
  15. The absolute dogs dangley bits, for my "needs" bang on for lifting capacity and reach all in a suitably nimble package.
  16. WoW! Seriously impressive.
  17. Same as drinking then, one does not know when one has enough, until one has definately had too much.
  18. I seem to recall that Krpan only produced the one front mount compatabile winch. I believe the FEH5.5 t, presumably with the requisite gearing for the higher front PTO speed and rotation direction. m
  19. cough cough And why exactly "no good off-road" jist asking like. Cos I think this is a bit of good kit.
  20. I bough a Viking Pro mower early in the season, about £1,100.00 worth!! in pref to the much vaunted honda.(at the same sorta money) One of the crews "nabbed" it early days, and it stays firmly strapped to their truck.(unless cutting of course) They love it. M

    Santana PS10

I nearly bought one, before I fell in with the Steyr Puch, and all I remember about the test drive is "agricultural" and "crude". m
  22. Just downloaded the latest Northern Ireland figures Now 5.6p/kWh sigh and capped at an absolute Max of £2,000.00 per dwelling, regardless of circumstances. sigh
  23. keen mowers damage the bark, thereby allowing the pathogen an entry.
  24. Shocking slow to load the truck though, which is costing someone money. Though with artics it should be possible to drop an empty trailer and collect a full one. As always I continue to be astounded by the tall straight relatively slender stems that forests in North America can produce with ease. Apparently.
