  1. Cheers rich and yes I am aware, I have sorted some new bands and I believe there's an old school chap in the village who's in the know on such things so I'll see if he wants to come and give me the rundown on such things ..
  2. She's currently running off a flat belt which I'm thinking I'll leave to start with.. if anyone could give me an idea or rpm it would be appreciated? I'll give you a shout Tim when It's up and running
  3. Using, got some spare shed room in my new yard and this came up so thought I would have a go
  4. Nope, this shall be my introduction to milling really looking forward to getting her fired up, been stood for 15 years so I've been and covered it in diesel, pretty much all freed up this afternoon without any issues
  5. Evening all thought I would share some pics of my latest find, been down and freed it up today in preparation for moving next weekend
  6. I am looking for a subbie climber / groundie to join myself and one other as and when business dictates within a well equipt surgery business, yard near gayton (norfolk), work booked in and starting this month. Must be comfortable with using a mewp as form of aerial rescue where possible. pm with details please. (did have a number for someone called scott from fakenham some time ago but have lost it so feel free to make contact)
  7. Due to other commitments I have an exciting and rewarding opportunity for a suitable person. I am looking for someone to share the day to day running whilst acting as team leader onsite for my surgery business consisting of truck, chipper, mewp, compact rough terrain forklift, trailer and yard / chipsite. Candidates should be competent in running a job, talking to clients and looking after machinery while trying to push the business in a forward direction. In return you will be rewarded with a healthy day rate and generous bonuses if targets are met while having the support of myself and an office taking care of the paperwork. Days / hours are currently filled as business dictates working with the current mewp operator / groundie. An excellent flexible opportunity for the correct person. If interested please email some details to the following address. [email protected] Many thanks, Adam.
  8. ive found a pic of one of them, to be honest mine weren't great to ride I just used them at shows... pashley make some which ride quite well but lack a decent freezer and I wanted more room for soft scoop flavours etc.. the one below I sold for a grand to the dairy who supplied me with the icecream.
  9. cheers for the reply's so far chaps.. this hasn't been a long drawn out plan, I literally bumped into the owner who I haven't seen in a while and he asked if I would be interested in giving his van a makeover inside and out as I used be involved with that sort of thing, I kindly declined but asked if it was for sale as it sits.. he has ran them for 24 yrs and was either thinking of selling or revamping, I pretty sure he didn't trade last year due to ill health so his round is now gone.. I built a couple of icecream bikes years ago so im familiar with the event costs, h+h and all that goes with it. he has also offered to work in the van for however long it takes at a low wage to train whoever I put in it and establish them a round if wanted, I just thought If I did it (weeks work) then do a village a night say 4:30 - 7:30 ... ive been given some figures but hes dealing with the cheapest stuff about and im not really interested in selling anything that's not tasty..
  10. been offered one at the right money and im curious as I wouldn't mind setting it up for the girlfriend.. its not my first dealing with the catering industry but im not familiar with the ins and out cost when it comes to fish and chips and im getting abit stuck for insight / words of wisdom.. if anyone can and is happy to share some advice it would be much appreciated, pm if you would rather ?
  11. I regularly used to reel in glowing seaweed when night fishing on the beech, confused me until I google'd it
  12. not to sure how the dealers would feel about it but maybe a sales forum?? like discounted goods / end of line / or stock clearance items? obviously at a minimum % less than usual to stop it just being a form of advertising?? or a purchase in numbers type of thing to find a better deal ?? granted I may have just offered a pointless suggestion
  13. I want meaning to slate, I have given wood away to collectors in the past or when its saved a trip back to the yard etc, I see it has its benefits on certain jobs especially when daylight hours are low and you don't have time for a second trip.. I don't think it would do any harm to base the price of arb waste on the price of wood for biomass though?
  14. I like the idea of this, I give arb waste away to my family but I always have people asking me if I can dump a load whenever in there drive as they know sometimes I just want to empty the truck without driving back to the yard, it still has a value of some sort, it might not stack nicely or fit the processor but its worth something.. I now work for someone 2 days a week on a processor and they have gone into chip production, windblowns used to lay on the estate and if you asked to clear it they would say fill your boots, now they send there own cutters out to collect the wood purely to go through the chipper, I asked the forester about this as they clear decent trees ash / beech ect all just for chip. I was told the subsidy he receives (however it works) means the wood has a decent value just for this reason and as such they couldn't sell it to me?? meaning 2 men employed with tractor and trailer 1 day a week to collect arbwaste just to chip no matter how good anyone able to explain how this works?
  15. I remember once a large windblown came down in the churchyard behind my parents house, I turned up by chance for a coffee and one of their neighbour's (local firewood hunter) approached me asking if I could get his saw out as he had pinched it in this tree??? I had a look and questioned him as to what he was doing and was he supposed to be there, he said he had called the landowner and they said crack on.. he had a stihl with a 14" bar (the tree was a good 30" across) I ended up going to get my gear, cleared the tree and trimmed the branches that had penetrated graves etc , got my tractor up there to remove the wood which went to the neighbour's and made a pile of brash out of the way, all in heavy rain.. local farmer and another firewood hunter turned up as I finished and commented on the mess that the tree had made to graves etc.. week or so later they had a section in the parish mag thanking the neighbour for all his hard work.. not even a mention of me
  16. out of curiosity what sort of cycle time do the lager splitters have, I process lots of wood that's maximum diameter for the dalen which about 18" I think, I don't really find it a pain sticking it through the splitter twice?
  17. I use a dalen 2 days a week for my local estate, it has 5 ton splitting force and when needed you can hit the lever and it will give 7ton .. if I made one I would like 10 / 15ton it has a 5second cycle on the splitter, its not painful to use but I wouldn't go slower.. the splitter height is also hydraulically operated up and down which I like..
  18. I will admit they are heavy enough, the wheels are pretty good for running up a wall if needed though and I like the fact they wont break, I do have a small / light set of triples aswell, never tried any with the adjuster foot but I can see where your coming from..
  19. I use zarges , by far the best imo and used by most of the industrial steel chaps I used to know.. 3 part 14 rung, work as steps - ladder and steps with extension.. guide wheels, stabilizer bar.. can get off the truck and carry by myself, they are heavy but its doable.. they also separate into sections easy, you can slide the sections off while there still on the truck if needed. pricy new but a good set on ebay can be had for £150.00 Zarges Skymaster Industrial Combination Ladder 3 x 14 Rungs ZAR41524
  20. I can see it now in neon lights... Zepparella and the weird bearded lady
  21. what about making one from an old back actor / digging arm, if you don't want legs try a flail mower arm???
  22. some twinkle twinkle would be a refreshing change lol... i can only hope all goes quiet for when duck dynasty come on later tonight
  23. im abit new to this, are you referring to the throat? ie height from bench to top of blade?
  24. if you keep an eye out theres some great benches that come up on the bay, i saw a pic someone put up not so long back on here of a standard saw bench that had been mounted to a subframe with an engine , one thing to point out is some ive seen have the bench mounted a bit low, with the engine inline which would make them unable to mill on as the timber would hit the rocker box ...
