  1. Fair play, after reading I'm a little disappointed, could've been a good thing with a floating axle on the arse..
  2. Ram swap / test confirmed it's the steering valve.. I.e swap pipes and works lovely in opposite direction to normal so out ruled ram and pipework. Pulled the valve to bits yesterday and other than a dust seal has no replaceable seals 😪 Couldn't see anything wrong as such just machined faces, can only assume it's worn I'm afraid and needs a replacement. Thanks for all the replies none the less chaps 🙂
  3. Nope, nothing to do with me.. I'm still dreaming of a cab on my machinery let alone a windscreen with a wiper !!! 😛
  4. You want the extra spring second from the top I.e where your springs mount on there bushes should be supported underneath if this makes sense? All you need is another spring of similar width and long enough to cover the distance, if you search around you will find some at a breakers.. Also check your U bolts are long enough to allow for it
  5. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/252537606159 Lot of machine for the money incase it interests anyone? Had I not have bought my mill the other week i think I would be tempted but doubt my good lady would share my excitement 😢
  6. I should have said that the oils not that old hence my dismissing of it sorry, it's under 12months although I can't remember exactly.. It's only used for the loader lifting and steering system, good caps and stored under cover so I'm pretty confident it's not the culprit. Thank you for your advice though
  7. Can't beat nights in the workshop 👍 Since she's a doublecab and your going to be having some fair weight on the axle may be worth some uprated springs if budget allows, if not cut a leaf out of an old transit set and add it in 🙂 Once your done mix some diesel up with waste oil and get as much inside the chassis as you can, helps keep her healthy 👍 Keep us posted !!
  8. Thanks gardenkit, I see what you mean also found another PDF with a breakdown.. As for fluid & filter it's running straight from the hydraulic tank and shares the same return / filter setup as the loader hydraulics so can only assume it's ok in that sense. If ram swap doesn't bring anything to light it's operation time 🔨
  9. There is equal resistance both ways yes, the ram swaps happening first thing however as for crossovers there's nothing apart from the steering valve .. pump with pressure release - steering valve - ram.. that's all
  10. Cheers bob, that hadn't even entered my head but yes that's only 10 minutes for a clear pointer
  11. I'm thinking the same.. hydraulic man is saying (from a guess) he believes there are valves inside that require setting hence he stays away.. I'm tempted to have it apart though
  12. Having some issues I believe to be within the steering unit? Or maybe wrong 🤔 When oils cold = steering works lovely (stop to stop with pressure) When oils warm = lovely at pulling steering ram in however really struggles to push ram out (turn steering wheel however much you want in this direction and nothing happens) Solution to being stuck in the middle of yard= pull ram fully in (works as it should) hold steering wheel on stop for a few seconds (believe removing air from system) then steering works lovely again long enough to change direction.. No leaks in system, good oil and flow pump happily making pressure.. Hydraulic man says he's never been in a steering unit and the specialist is quoting £500 and a week downtime 😐 Tempted to have a look myself, I'm thinking a seal / o-ring has gone and allows oil to pass it when it's warmer / thinner?? Anyone got any ideas or knowledge in the field? Could it be the ram at fault and I'm in the wrong place?
  13. Hot bits rolling down your ear canal is always a treat 🙂
  14. 180amp mig on 1.8 wire.. new steel if possible if not well ground (no rusty bits) thin steels worse than thick for blowing holes so if you could find a car man to spare you an hour I would take it.. pub size bottles of co2 cost me a tenner to refill, renting a bottle is a pain however if you can find someone with an old co2 bottle they will just exchange it without charge.. As mentioned in other comments find a chap who can weld and ask him to give you the lowdown 😀
  15. Currently looking for a new subby contact to work alongside myself and current climber.. Yard based between kings Lynn and swaffham. Pm details 🙂
  16. Cheers delta bodge I have tried to pm you Adrian but you've got your settings set in such a way it won't allow me to, could you give me a contact number and I'll give you a call?
  17. Back there today having a play and managed to get the pivot moving so got a few pictures showing the idea.. Found half of what looked like a giant top link but couldn't see the other bit, I'll make up a new one once it's home..
  18. No chap, not a million miles from that but just off Norwich
  19. Cheers codlasher, I had seen that on another thread and will ask the supplier what the score is when I'm up and going..
  20. I'm attempting to move a sawmill next weekend on the above wheels and am a little concerned incase one gives out (been stood 15 years not moved for maybe more) Was hoping one of my farming buddies may have one but I've drawn a blank Anyone got one kicking around I could borrow for the day just incase? Alternatively I'll happily buy one if someone has spares?
  21. I'll take a few pics and upload them once it's all done showing it
  22. That would be great, if you come across anything pm me and I'll send you some funds to cover costs and a few beers .. I spoke to stenner last week and they sent me a few pages of original sales info however said spares were not available (was a sales lady in fairness so will try again and see if I can talk to someone else maybe) And yes I've found the pivot, I'm giving the diesel some time to soak in before trying to pivot it
