  1. I would be looking at an easy morning provided onsite looks as the pics do.. £280.00
  2. evening all, been considering one as an upgrade from a transit, possibly running a front mount chipper.. Dealer recons 3040kg empty with a gross of 7500kg so reasonable payload, cant tell me the max train weight though ? apparently its not on the weight plate and I cant find it online?? any ideas? anyone able to offer any advice on replacement parts or just an isight into using one, im not wanting to start a war with regards to the whole grey area of usage if possible.. just some info on the truck would be great
  3. I know a few company's who don't own any of the gear outright, even a van. just seems tempting to think another machine could benefit the business without having to wait until the bank account says yes. looks like I had better get the welder out again
  4. I bought a oleo mac 981 in near mint condition from my local saw shop, he got it as a trade in and offered it to me for £140 i wasn't expecting anything great but it turns out its by far better than i thought, i even sold my old 272xp and let the oleo take its place..
  5. Evening all, been running on older gear for my first couple of years.. Never borrowed nothing and bought all my gear from my pocket, all old bits of kit that I have refurbished as best I can.. now were taking on bigger jobs the gear doesn't really seem to be cutting it anymore, some times it seems like were making hard work out of the situation, but its the best I can afford outright. My old mans bought me up in the" if you cant pay for it you don't get it frame of mind" which has served me well without doubt , not looking at brand new stuff just modern would be nice, obviously replacement of machinery is in my costings but its tempting to think just get it now on the knock, make the job easier while getting more done.. I bought a mewp last year, really did skint I wouldn't be without it now, loads of subby work has come in and tbh I think it has been my best asset even though I put me in a nip arse financial situation for a while.. any advice from those who have lost or benefited from finance??
  6. we recently had a air leak on the fuel system so its had a new lift pump as one of the one way valves was a little shot, also all pipes and clips have been renewed together with new filter and a tank clean, its always seemed to not have the grunt it should.. the throttle opens fully and has a adjustable stop on the body, originally the engine was from a military generator and was running set rev using this stop which I have adjusted to let it rev however it only uses a gallon and a half per day running all day? never blows any smoke even under strain..
  7. evening all, I have one of the above but I cant see how to increase the diesel pump .. it seems to rely purely on rev and just doesn't sound like its really working as hard as it should when chipping.. any help welcome
  8. still looking for prices if anyone's intrested ???
  9. potentially yes, pm me a price, im guessing you would come with it which is fair enough, how many m3 can you carry?
  10. Evening all, Been asked to price reducing a big conifer hedge 350m of it near kings lynn In Norfolk, don't fancy trying it with my 6" so im after a figure off someone with a chipper 10" should piss it, tracked or road tow as cant have chip truck beside.. with or without operator for 3 days.. free burger van delights included
  11. i had an old honda acty pickup when i first passed my test .. 550cc petrol twin.. great thing, moved 40ton of birch with it....
  12. is it not deep enough for a small row boat?? my mates got an old waterways reed cutting boat for bigger jobs.. i would be tempted to get an old long handled hedge cutter and a rowing boat.. one punt the boat and one cut..
  13. pinapple express blow any which way but loose any which way you can shooter
  14. that sounds about right
  15. havent got any pics of the big ones weve done but heres a few of us on out first grinding job on the monday we had never done a stump and by friday we had done about 300 , 630a grinder
  16. shes built well, by the look of the springs im gonna guess 2.5t easy ..legally more like a ton
  17. can i upload picks from the computer?? not understanding the url type setup
  18. Hi all, ive got a wierd iveco setup standing in my drive and before its heads onto ebay i thought id ask incase anyone can think of a purpose for it, i have done a fair bit of work to the cab and other things so its now a reasonable truck but as it has a pretty low sale value i would be happy to keep if i could think of any use for it other than a car transporter which i dont need.. its an iveco 3.5t twin wheel, with 16ft (originally 20ft) of chassis out the back, it has a 40" longer wheelbase than the standerd lwb version, its currently got a 10ft ali tipping buck on the rear end meaning theres a 6ft gap behind the cab.. any ideas .. posibble firewod delivery truck ?? cant think why or what the hell i could do with it , seems abit to large for a toolbox on wheels
  19. i rang DVLA before i put a deposit on the truck, im going down the foresty / ag registration.. they want £55.00 pounds for registration that includes an age related plate..
  20. yeah i keep thinking it will be a total nightmare hence my original plan of mounting it.. alot of my work is for a local estate and they have there firewood bussiness so they pretty much want all the timber over 5" and chip anything less.. a large chipper would be nice when reversing but tbh it seems a bit daft when im only chipping brash..
  21. i suppose i could cut it around and fit it on a little sanky trailer to improve its off road ability abit..
  22. i havent got any pics on my computer but you can view it on what was its ebay listing using this item number: 370717616445 i only have a small vermeer 620 which serves my purposes pretty well so even when mounted i was going to leave it powerd by its own engine, one of my problems has been trying to drag it over and through rough areas where wheel ruts have been an issue, not helped by its tiny wheelbase, thought that by mounting it would be nicer to use plus easyer to reverse
  23. evening all, ive bought myself a new toy in the way of an ex mod daf 4x4 and am wandering which way to set it out.. im wanting it to have my chipper attached, tipping body / chip box and also a hiab.. having never used a viechle of this size on a day in day out basis i would like to here what your opinions are with the configuration ie, chipper on front , 3 way tipper and grab on the arse end or grab behind the cab ,3 way tip and the chipper on the rear?? all views / ideas welcome
  24. Hi there, im hoping some advice might help me out a little.. ive just completed my first year trading and seem to be having a bit of trouble with work consitency, a relationship breakup earlyier in the year means my household bills etc have doubled from what they were when i first setup but in one form or another ive managed to stay afloat.. all my gears paid for so i havent got any monthly payments it that sence just the usual costs such as advertising, insurance etc, i have no yard to try and keep costs low. ill give you an idea of how i currently operate, i have a 6"chipper / big grinder / and a decent veichle mounted mewp.. I generally do the ground work - one employe (no set hours) who deals with the mewp and also acts as a groundy for a climber who works with us as and when needed.. I run two adverts in the local glossy mags covering roughly 30miles in most directions (about 40,000 copies in circulation) I get a reasnable return from the ads, i am happy with how they look and even do some subby work for other local chaps on larger grinding jobs or with the mewp.. i get around 8/10 quotes accepted and make sure the customer is always happy.. sometimes i ask how my price compared with others just to keep an eye on my pricing.. My problem is far to often i seem to have nothing for weeks on end then a manic spell, and when it comes im purely playing catch up on bills, i hate the feeling that in truth i might be one sizeable breakdown or another bad fortnight from going tits up, not only that but the stress isnt doing me any favours either.. Is it time to start hunting down commercial works as in trying to become an approved contactor wherever i can or is that likely to just lead to more stress involved with paperwork than its worth ? Sorry for ranting on abit but hopefully somone may have been in a simular situation and could offer me a little advise
