  1. Thanks for the info so far, it all seems pretty cheap if I'm honest. Last I heard in my area was a mobile mill at 450 a day and you had to supply a loader with operator who also helped as a spare pair of hands to speed production up. May I ask what your setup is ilnumero? Sent from my SM-T580 using Arbtalk mobile app
  2. Evening all, I've finally got my stenner up and running and have all ready encountered an issue I'm after some advice on? Original plan was to buy my timber standing, extact, fell and forward in house then mill to order. I contract the fencing for a local estate and have several gates to put up (I supply materials in price) and had suggested chestnut posts which I would mill myself and have timber ready. All was good until I received a call from there forestry manager informing me that he has sold them x amount of chestnut for me to mill into posts at £60 a cube and wants me to use this for their fencing. I'm not overly happy about milling other people's timber and am reluctant to start as I have worked hard to get to the point that I can supply myself and make the most I can out of my yard and gear. I'm happy to buy standing from the chap and we have discussed this in the past but feel he's going to be trying to sell timber to other markets suggesting that I will forward and mill it for the client as they don't have the ability. Question is it reasonable to say no I only mill my own timber and if not what sort of rate am I looking at? I'm not interested in the odd hour so thought about a full day option to reduce the risk of "can you just" type situations. Any words of wisdom welcome..
  3. You wouldn't happen to be located anywhere near me would you? (Norfolk) Sent from my SM-T580 using Arbtalk mobile app
  4. Mate of mine bought one of the Chinese top handled saws badged as "MJ tools" lasted around 4hrs at a guess before being thrown from the mewp, in that time the handle fell off, ran with various character building quirks and generally pissed him off for a morning ..
  5. Hahaha, I'll have to call the bank as they've obviously cocked up on my statement !!
  6. Plant enamel I would guess, Nuffield orange temac would be my choice assuming your on about metal casings Plastic is another issue though as you have to use plastic primers first so would opt for 2k paints as you would on a car bumper..
  7. I'm surprised you have the energy for humorous conversation after doing all that spraying today 😂
  8. Hoping someone may be able to point me in the right direction as google's not bringing much up. Have a few transit loads of lime chip to dispose of Wednesday - Friday Any company's out that way?
  9. Thanks for the help all, I got on the phone this morning and managed to find a supplier who thought it was his wife calling to give him an earful working on Sunday haha, he did however wait for me to get there and sort me out!! was also a supplier of climbing gear and a peltz dealer with very good prices. Top bloke if your in need of such things based in Watton Norfolk http://www.rhtltd.co.uk/
  10. Not a bad idea, I'm going to have a look on Wisbech market in the morning as there's a few chaps with similar bits that I've seen before.. and there is a machine mart there I believe.
  11. Cheers chaps, if I can't find any joy tomorrow I'll get an order in..
  12. I've got a couple but they're to short, however yes anything to keep me above board will do ..
  13. Just been sorting my gear out for my ticket (32) next week and it appears I've cocked up on the strength of my strops vs my winch capability.. My tirfor t35 has 3715kg rated pull and I'm a little concerned I may not be able to find any of that size tomorrow, Checked eBay and amazon but delivery times coming in Thursday next week. If anyone has any they will either sell or let me borrow please let me know. Many thanks Adam.
  14. Cheers Tim, I'll give you a call next week. I've a little info on my "mate" in that van 😉
  15. May well be, I'm not sure who's doing the training as I've jumped in on another estates course, it's taking place at narford ??
  16. That would be an early cm200 or cm125c if I remember correctly, the head casting and rear peg mounts are somewhat different from the other Models
  17. Sounds more glamorous than a yard of paracord
  18. Or you could rig something like this up for an emergency "shits hitting the fan moment" 😄
  19. Realistically the scaffold idea has no hope in the event of a roll, I have factory fitted pipe type one on a similar tractor which must be 5 times heavier than scaffold at least. I also have one from a compact tym tractor which again I can't carry on my own made from box. Apart from a genuine one the only thing I would suggest is a decent bit of RSJ cut & welded with some decent plates / U bolts mounted to the axle as the original would be. Keep looking and you will find one, until then dish your wheels out, stick something heavyish on the front and don't risk it if it looks dodgy..
  20. Is it common practice to tie high lifts together for ease of carrying about over your shoulder etc?? Usually keep them in my truck but I'm on my 32 next week and I'm thinking a pouch that size may be an arse to work with?
  21. Had a phone call a few years ago from a "British aerospace engineer" asking me visit his workshop as he had a problem with a motorbike he was fixing for someone and had been told I was handy with such things. Turned up and was shown pictures of him and his team standing beside a gold plaque fitted to the spy plane they had been built, I asked what this problem was he was having ?? Couldn't figure out how to change piston rings on a moped !!!
  22. Yeah I know the wicken well, I'll have a chat and see what the score is, I've had a hunt about but can't find the van yet..
  23. My woodyard is at Westacre, roughams only 5miles off, Saturday night??
