  1. A large ferret roulette arena?
  2. If my Kubota in work was any narrower I'd probably get that feeling in the evenings as well
  3. I guess you could get one of the cheaper ear defenders which have a radio and mp3 input and just use a 3.5mm jack lead to feed from the cheap 2way into them.
  4. Also, personally I'd have tied up my hydro lines before doing any work that involved spinning branches about
  5. Would be a fantastic machine for feeding a larger chipper
  6. I had to stop using bio oil because my dog kept on scoffing sawdust and throwing up.
  7. ...You know that a mog isn't a cat ...You know that a krab is not a type of shellfish ...You know that timberwolves are orange and shiny and not furry ...You hear the word ''husky'' and think of chainsaws, not dogs
  8. Stihl Comfort by far. done hours and hours strimming with one and no problems at all.
  9. Top gear is pretty quick on it, I have to admit. Probably wont be able to use it much in the woods. Think I'll try and find a two speed winch, plus put a nylon winch line in rather than a strap. Spent most of the time guiding the strap rather than winching. Will be making a set of drop down ground anchors for winching as well.
  10. Not had a chance to try her in the woods yet, but thought I'd give it a quick try in between showers dragging a lump of ash off the wood pile. The vid is in actual speed, pulled that bit of ash around the field in top gear with no wheelspin, so should handle much heavier stuff without a problem. Apologies for the bad quality and lack of sound, was taken on my phone. It's pretty shaky as well due to the high winds. Power unit is a 1954 Mayfield garden tractor, with a 4hp villier Mk15, an Albion 3 speed gearbox with no reverse:thumbdown: and constant difflock. Mountain bike disc brake fitted to axle to hold her still while changing gear. The plan is to find another power unit with reverse soon, so didn't want to spend too much on this one. Tell me what you guys make of it. I tried embedding it but failed, if anyone can, please do. [ame= ] [/ame]
  11. Good plan, wait until you have a nice big pile of connie tops to get rid of
  12. Westonbirt is a gorgeous place, the 2000 year old lime is well worth seeing
  13. OK I have to admit I don't like the idea of using the splitter towards the cab, but can see that good operators would almost eliminate all risk from using it. What if you were to push the splitter in an few inches then lift the log so that it's vertical, then push down?
  14. They aren't too bad with a wee bit of of coal mixed in to damp them down a bit, very heavy on wood without. You save money on electric though, seeing as you can have a kettle on the go all the time
  15. Dear mad_mini_mechanic, Yes I work with a lad fully qualified he has all his certificates plus his climbing certificates very competent and also insured. Would you like us to come for a chat sometime. - tezzababy230 Could actually be legit. Either slack work period and getting desperate or don't actually realise the value of what 'the lad' is doing? Now I have to explain that I live at the other end of the country and don't have an ash tree (or a house for that matter!)
  16. Just sent them a message telling them I've just moved to fellside and have a large ash tree close to the house, asking what qualifications they have and whether they have PL or not. Should be interesting.
  17. ICOM F-4029SDR Catchy model name I know. Icom IC-F4029SDR PMR446 Digital walkie talkie Icom IC-F4029SDR [iC-F4029SDR] - £199.00 : Walkie Talkie Communications Specialists, Walkie Talkie Communications Specialists £199 each. Pricy, but in my opinion very much worth it.
  18. Do you have a specially made pair of hiflexes with an extended crotch to accommodate your massive balls? Nice work.
  19. You could drill out the rivet in the centre, replacing it with an m5 bolt, with penny washers to stop it tearing out, and a capped nut to avoid sharp edges. in between the two pieces of leather on the bolt you could put a short piece of tubing, to hold the pouch slightly open.
  20. We use Icom in work, great range on them (about 1/2 a mile), and tomorrow I'll get the model number of the ones we have, they're both analogue and digital, so you can use analogue if you have another team working with you with analogue handhelds, or digital when on your own, givbing better clarity. Think they were about £160, but fully waterproof and approved for use by the US military.
  21. The 55 will be sold before long in work via a sealed bid auction. I'll let you know when it's up for auction and could stick a bid in on your behalf if you wanted?
