  1. Good for stopping tailgaters at night as well
  2. Keep an eye out in Lidl/Aldi for one, their prices are very competitive and it's the only place you'll get a free three year warranty. go to their website and sign up for the weekly newsletter, gives you all the special buys
  3. Yeah I'm waiting to see the consultant about it and get the op booked. Only 25 but got it in both hands
  4. I've got one, planning on painting it up and signwriting the business name onto it, then have it sat in a log on the tradestand.
  5. Will take logs/lengths and chip, will also collect logs/lengths- Llwyndrain, North Pembrokeshire (SA35) PM me if interested
  6. A good little trick that I use rather than a chain wrench on ram collars is to use a length of old cambelt around the collar, then grip the ends of it with a mole grips. the grips will then tighten the belt the more torque you apply.
  7. Basketmaking shelter I built, but will be building a similar woodstore at home soon. Built from ash poles. all dowelled joints, there isnt a single nail in it Roof is willow whips laid on the purlins, layer of bracken (cut out of spore season), layer of black poly, and another layer of bracken, with some slabwood to stop the wind lifting it. you can see i'm halfway through wattling the end to give a bit more shelter.
  8. No special treatment, just change the engine oil after the first ten hours use
  9. Quick video of the small scale processing set up that we run. You might also be interested in the combination logsplitter/crane that I made out of a conventional splitter for handling dumpy bags- it's at the end of the video somewhere.
  10. I sell by the builders bag. I can drag them around by myself, as it's mostly oak and beech I have this year I don't think I'd be able to handle a cubic metre bag. plus there's the issue of cost on the bag. I can buy 0.65m3 bags from a local quarry for £2.50 each, and seeing as I season my stuff before it's bagged I don't really have to worry about ventilation.
  11. I have no idea about the flow rates and pressures that handlers deliver so ignore me if this is way off the mark- how about fitting a hydraulic motor to your sawbench/splitter and making up an adaptor plate to hold the bench on the boom linkage? that way you could drop the sawbench off and use pallet forks etc pretty easily.
  12. And some more... 1980 Mini pick up 1928 Kohler model 'D' generator Lister D type with water and vacuum pump, and collection of milking and dairy memorabilia
  13. I mentioned in my international post that i'd stick some pics up of things i've collected/done up, so here it is. Enjoy. 1955 Austin A30 1948 Lister Junior and Corn mill, restored and painted and fitted on green oak frame 1952 Petter W1H and water pump Winget cement mixer as bought
  14. I do it for the wood. I work in Castell Henllys, the iron age hillfort next door to pengelli, so i get to use whatever timber i need so long as i'm tidy about it, plus i have a section that i'm thinning for personal timber/firewood for sale.
  15. Rigid axles and wheels from an old static caravan, and the wire isn't for strength, just a jungle wire to allow whippy stuff to slide over the top of the arch without snagging.
  16. A while back I built a skidding arch to fit behind a walk behind tractor. it worked well until the day that the drive pins sheared due to excessive load. I then converted the arch to ball hitch and use it in work behind a 2005 Polaris Ranger 500, and hope to get a quad at home to run it. here it is in Pengelli Forest NNR, extracting ash for gatemaking.
  17. I use a skidding arch behind a Polaris Ranger, works beautifully and barely leaves a mark, important seeing as the timber i was extracting in the pictures is in a nautre reserve. The poles in the last picture are 16metres long.
  18. Me and my dad have been doing old stuff up since 1997 now, stationary engines, classic cars, that sort of thing, but this is the biggest project so far. (Actually i feel a 'things i've restored' thread coming on...) will post some pics of the work done when i have a bit more time. mechanically she was ok, apart from she'd been driven with the handbrake on and the band had disintegrated and gone for a wander round the hydraulic system. have just found out now that it's on safe tyres and i can drive it in a higher gear than first that the clutch has gone, so will have to strip it again to do that. International B275 Tractor Spare Parts | Full Range of Vintage, Classic and Modern Tractor Spares to Retail and Trade | 01527 579111 try them for 275 spares. oh, and it's good to be back
  19. So it may have appeared that I had vanished off the face of the internet for the past few months, and this is the reason why- windscreen has been fitted since the photos were taken. various improvements include- twin worklights front and rear, twin rear spools, mp3 CD player, twin beacons, sidelights that fold in against the bonnet out of harm's way and quick release mesh guarding on the left hand window and door glass for flail work. Now all I need to do is get some money to buy a hedgecutter to go on it... What do you guys think?
  20. My dad's citroen relay, converted from a panel van
  21. Here's my van, use it for work as well as for the odd weekend camping. removable cooker and sink unit that i put in the awning, and double bed in the back of the van. Basic, but works well for me. I'll find some pics of the campervan conversion that me and my dad did on his van before long
  22. I agree with the partner, or if you're after a little bit bigger go for the dispatch/expert, twin SLD are a godsend.
  23. In a world where arboricultural Forum members occasionally misbehave, a crack team of tree surgeons cut them down to size. Coming soon to a cinema near you, Stephen Blair in- The Mogerator
  24. Here's one I built this winter. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kiRKxYnmz-Q]YouTube - ‪skidder2.wmv‬‏[/ame]
  25. Yes, that wheel is first on my list of things to do. as well as the tyre being on the wrong way round, the wheel centre to rim bolts have been run slack, elongating the holes to about 1.5 inches long, makes for some interesting noises when driving it. Hada look at the serial number plate, and Micheal C is quite right, it's a 684 not a 674, which means when it's done properly it will have the nicer looking bonnet and grill.
