  1. Thank you Si, Mr.Mog. I do accept your compliments, and to get them is always great, but I think im just winging it most of the time ;-) I'm no master carpenter, just a bloke with a load of mad ideas. until this project I swore never to use routers again (cos I suck at them) but found i might be alright with them now. I've never carved, and I cant draw a stick-man with a pencil - I think my tattooist might have stuck me with a bit of his skill, cos I managed to freehand that lot. The little router was a bit numb hands at the end, but the big DW is lovely to use, just cant on fine work/edging. Si, the resin was a gamble, only ever done small bits. cos the theme of the table is "stuff from the ground" I had loads of big fake diamonds and sapphires and gold to go in the resin, and a little sword(frodos), but soon as I put resin over them they vanished, so it was sort of like what now, 10 minutes to come up with an idea before it sets - had those 25mm steel spheres hanging around. At the end where there was a bark inclusion or rot (cant remember which), i set the resin in 3 layers, so the balls are at different levels and look like they are floating - cos you can see thru to the floor thru it. The only original kept bit is the gold ring (brass) set in the top/edge. But I like the balls, it works. better than just trying to make a top look like there wasn't a fault in it by splicing in a bit of timber. the rest of the inlay is crushed pytrites. It was to be gold leaf but was a bitch to work with so I gave up. I had a dream 2 nights ago of a chair, like that table.. now I think this next project WILL be good. Might make a fine carpenter yet ;-)
  2. ps.. watch it on ipad and double tap the screen
  3. Thanks bud ;-) There isn't much more vid that that - I did it for whoever buys it. I think I did 10m in total, and cropped out anything that was just too long. Its really just for the buyer, so they can say, look my table being made... The vid was nice and big, until I youtubed it! was even done in HQ!
  4. in this age of video diary narcissism, I thought, why not Youve seen it all before - the big carved table. But if you wanna watch the process, milling to finished, set aside 7 minutes. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FocOLK-A2Q]The Table of Elements.m4v - YouTube[/ame]
  5. Thnx Rob ;-).. resin isn't perfect. I ignored a golden rule in my rush, but.....
  6. Quilted large logo bag | Chanel Vintage | Matchesfashion.com no?
  7. hi rob,

do you sell the HD2 air filter for an 880?

  8. i thought my 880 was cool. that setup is the nuts
  9. i ditto that. thats what I call real honest grass roots 'furniture of the woods', and takes me back, oooh, 25 years when my staple diet was psilocybin and discovered my love for this kinda stuff
  10. Thnx GreyGit, Nick. Glad to have got it finished.
  11. FINISHED. (thank the gods)
  12. hollowed out? last "butt" table I made gave me bleeding knuckles from kickbacks. Do you know something I dont?, like a better way? I do like the design, esp that first pic. But do get a flap-disk on them you lazy tyke
  13. That's superb. And humbling for my addiction to Axminster tool shops.
  14. see, now the legs on that design really work. the space is right. and the trestle table is bang on.. but if you start moaning about my input, im going to have to pull your pants down look at this one, 3 grand, and repro!! http://www.earlyoakreproductions.co.uk/furniture/dining-tables/trestle-base-tables/product-3645.php
  15. eww, tantrum! twists words with you wife, mate, not me.. forum dullards can really do my nut in. At least satanists have a sense of humour
  16. ok, go back to chris gills comment, you can understand that
  17. i prefer the other measurement, that usually gets spoken around 11pm...
  18. you might slightly have not got my point there.. while for me, i always look at the legs (yeah, that too) what people generally look at, is the whole. They look at something objectively.. we, as the craftsman, look at it subjectively, we see every tiny detail. When we are working, the wood speaks. People make up their minds on something in ONE second, and what speaks is the whole. things should always be funky.. that's putting your soul into it !
  19. Thanks Steve ;-) Ive shifted over to AS composites. 44£ @ 5L - cant argue with that. And they sell all the tints etc. No shelf-life problems, never any tackiness either. The inlays on this are not as planned. The table is "themed" around the elements, and the stones etc I had disappeared soon as I poured the resin in, so I had 10 minutes to hoik them out and get something in there - the 25mm spheres were to hand. With the heat build-up pulling the cast away from the edges producing that "silvering", i was well happy with the results, so threw em in at the other end. I set the cast in at intervals, and it is open to the underside, so they balls look like they float, and you can see thru to the floor - well, when it's polished you can.. other half wants to keep it, so it's not for sale. but i have enuff of the same timber to make 3 more, although I wont make another the same.
  20. I'd buy you a beer on the strength of that statement alone. Thnx bud ;-)
  21. Thanks bud ;-) All of that, Harvey - total anal-retentive attention to detail Carve out the drawn lines with a tiny router / laminate trimmer & a 6mm bit. Easy to move with robot efficiency. take all the meat out with a 25mm bit (w/bottom cut) on a big dewalt. The over/unders are cut with chisels, and the cleanup is done with them. Scrape out with chisels where too small to sand, and then sand until you hear "if you dont come and get your dinner the dogs are getting it"
  22. Well thank you, that is the greatest compliment a man can get. But I know a couple walking into ikea would take one look at my work and say 'vile' so I'm realistic about things.. Your own work, Dig deep mate, there are no rules, and remember the words of George Clinton. " nothing is funky unless you play with it" . Build !!
  23. Thank you ;-) Chestnut. And 10x is a lot, but I want that thick wet look with no fuzziness on the reflections. Lacquered chestnut looks like honey, and with that swirly oil on water looking grain..... Lovely
  24. Thanks bud. In truth, most of the time I just winging it. That and owning probably more tools than Axminster. Give it a go ;-)
