  2. Number plates with a Z in are normally registerd in Ireland . YEARS ago a S in the 3 letters used to mean it was probably first regiterd in scotland. each area USED to have different letter combinations GUF was a good indication it was registered in the Portsmouth area ELL or EEL was Poole in dorset AOR was normally an age related number plate issued if the original plate was either sold or lost. Its nearlly all changed now that its computerised . Disability cars and some rep cars can have odd number plates with a Z in, I think that this can idicate that they were bought in Ireland to get round the tax and vat. I might be completly wrong! and I probably am as my better half constantly reminds me
  3. If you put the number plate in the list an item on fleabay motors it will tell you what the vehicle is and its spec
  4. I think you'll find the number plate is Irish, what was the chipper?
  5. All the work on the estate is done by contractors, seems to be the way most farms down here are going . got a mate with 2 horses that he used to ploughs with at Singleton open air museum, would be heart warming to see them on the farm
  6. A up Brushcutter I got a pictures of the hazel layering its self, nature is a brilliant thing . As for the deer I do my best to manage the Roe but to be honest they dont really do alot of damage in the woods as the dog walkers keep them on the move, I saw the first Muntjac on the estate last year but didnt have the .243 with me . As for logs Im going to cut it into lenghts and stack it but getting it out might be a problem unless I can borrow a tractor and trailer or pick up a cheap Hilux over the next 9 months .
  7. Cheers Quickthorn! I've ordered a copy of silvaculture and coppice management from the Fc. Im going to go back up there tomorrow and have a tidy up, I would like to find a spot with some bean sticks in it and get a few bundles to sell at a boot sale in a couple of months time just to spur me on. As I've never done any of this sort of thing before I need to reasure myself that I will at least break even, and not lose money:thumbup1:
  8. Interesting! any idea what it would cost ? I suppose you could sell the bits your left with and re coup a few quid
  9. Can a normal top handle be converted ?
  10. How long ago do you recon the big one's were cut ? Is the only use for hazel that size charcoal and logs ?
  11. Yeah! funny how they end up stunted, I didnt have long there but Im sure if I looked about I'd find more
  12. I saw the thread when it started and new that I had seen trees like these on the estate I shot, so took a few photo's today to keep the thread going . Does anybody know for sure why they are like it ??
  13. Well I got the chance to visit the estate and start on the Hazel today, but It didnt go smoothly, the Suzuki jeep had a flat battery the petrol station was out of unleaded and then when I did get up there I cut a couple of dead limbs and the throttle broke on the saw . I rang the owner to see if he wanted to pop up to see Me, but he was busy but laughed when I told him where I had chosen to start and said its always been called Hangmans copse . Here's a few pictures to show you what Im up against. My plan is to clear all of the limbs that have failed and thin the stands leaving the whips and maybe one or two of the trunks to maintain the food source for our furry friends, and to prevent the stands being stressed, What do you lot think ???
  14. Not my cup of tea Dean! but if same sex relationships float your boat then who am I to judge . Dean and Betty has got a certain ring to it thou
  15. I had a run of dead mimosas last spring that were killed buy the cold weather. Down here on the south coast I've cut them whenever asked without doing any harm. I did one about 4 years running, the problem was that it shaded a neighbours window and they kept complaining so in the end I removed it. A week later I got a phone call from the owner to say that the neighbour that complained about the lack of light in his window had been out and bought a blind to stop the sun reflecting on his tv screen You sold your van yet ?
  16. I've heard of a few uses for baby oil (when in the bedroom with the other half ) but I've never heard of pouring oil into a river before, is that before or after sex ? ., :stupido2:it must be a northern thing .
  17. Superb Quicthorne! Im going to have a walk around tomorrow and will take a few photos. It would be nice to keep this thread going as I've struggled to get info, and it will Im sure be helpfull to others
  18. Im a live and let live kinda guy. And have had enough experience of life to know that I havent got the right to look down my nose or judge people because they decide to have more than 2 children or choose to work in the Uk rather than their own country, or for any other reason come to that. You mentioned nature so looking at it from that angle can you tell me of any animals that through over breeding are now extinct?. on the contrary some of the most prolific breeders in the animal world are some of the most intelligent and genetically advanced, rats for instance
  19. If asked to do unpaid extras I always say the same thing : If I did 10% extra on every job ,then 1 day in every 10 Im work for nowt. Just finshed 2 days of coni bashing for the owner of a rented property, the tenant wanted to keep the dead branches to start their fire, the problem is that they wanted it stacked in the corner and it now looks like I've left a load of rubbish on site and didnt clear up properly.. Im now going to have to tell the owner and I know she wont be happy as the house is on the market.
  20. Sorry to hear this:thumbdown: How do you know it was 4am ?
  21. The boot went on mine! the give away was on tick over, if you held the handle and jerked the saw up and down the revs changed
  22. Zombies walking the streets would be pretty cool. most of us have got 4x4 s with big bumpers and loads of neat tools. shall I use the polesaw or the top handle ? STUMP GRINDER !!!!!
  23. There used to be a similar thing to this on the web that you could make. It switched the phone on when you rang it it and also alowed you to eaves drop as your call was excepted buy the hidden phone. If you've got a tracker then Google (Avl gps blocker)
  24. There used to be a kit you could buy on ebay that turned a mobile on when you rang it which you could then track on a sat nav is this idea on the same sort of line ?
