  1. Its tricky because were both talking about a tree that neither of us have seen, I would guess that myself and a groundie could do a 30% reduction on the Syc in 3 hours, If I wanted to stand a good chance of getting the job the I would price it at tad less than £200 all in if I wasnt to worried about getting the job then the price would be £250 and I can bet a pound to a pinch of pooh that it wouldnt come in.
  2. The end is nigh! when I started half of my work was dead Elm tree's and grinding stumps that were left over from the 1987 storm, needless to say that I havent cut any elm for months and as for stump grinding I charge the same now as I did in 2002 and probably do half the amount. When I got my first chipper I had the edge over other tree companies that at the time were still cutting the branches up in the back of transit vans. There was also only a handful of stump grinders in the area and alot of people didnt even know what stump grinding was. My old man charged £25 per man hour on jobs in the 1980 s with very few of the over heads that we all run with now, add to that the advances in the machines that we use and the amount that can be achieved compaired to the old ways of doing things and without doubt were doing more for less
  3. You would be lucky to get £200 for that job in my area Id like a few jobs like that on my books at £135 ph

  7. Just saw these on the bay! I know that Huskys have used a similar sprockets but didnt know that you could fit them to a 020, Its should cut down on the vibration caused by the drive being worn and the chain running on different groves CHAIN SPROCKET FITS STIHL CHAINSAW 020 MS200 MS200T on eBay (end time 22-Mar-11 09:18:44 GMT) Has anybody tried them ?
  8. Correct me if Im wrong please Tony but if Lennys grow individually in a tree conservation area, once they are over 75mm Dbh then they are coverd as tree's, but if planted as a hedge in the same area then they are exempt from tree protection as are other species of hedging. Am I having a blonde moment or is this the correct?

  16. I dont mind fuel going up a few quid a gallon over the last few years but what I cant understand is how a pair of Stihl Hiflex can double in price in just under 2 years, or how Husky low smoke 2 stroke can triple in price since I last bought a box I saved £820 quid buy not buying the clutch for my Husky stump grinder from Husquvarna and sourcing it direct from a uk Noram agent. The bearings for my vermeer 252 where going to cost £140 each from B trac, I went to Bsl in Portsmouth and they could do me the exact same bearing for £7, thats a 2000% mark up:thumbdown:. Im just glad that I dont have to buy my fuel from the companys that sell the plant and machinery or I would be in the shite
