  4. Thanks Gerrit! Sun scald was my first thought but he assures me nothing in the garden has changed in the last 10 years I asked about bonfires to which he admited to having a few in the past, shame if that is the case because the chap seems to have a real respect and love for the tree.
  5. Hi lads! I had a passer by ask for my comments on this beech. My first thought was some kind of damage caused buy us humans but according to the owner it has'nt been exposed to any ill treatment in the 10 years he has owned the property. Closer inspection shows whats left of what I think is Armilaria fb ? Seems the cambium has tried to calouse and failed a few years back. The owner is very keen to keep the old girl going, Your thoughts please
  6. Fantastic bench As good as the owls are I think the bench would have more appeal for me with out them as its beauty for me is in the natural flowing lines and simplicity Really dont wish to ruffle feathers but without the owls its probably the nicest bench I've seen to good for the garden imo Really love to try and make a copy if that was ok ?
  7. Nope it was in the garden of a bungalow,at first I thought it was a junction box for cables or a motor cycle battery. called the owners over and they gave the all clear so ground around it and dug it out to find the blokes name date of birth and death. Used to maintain the trees in a garden or rememberance at a crem, ground human ashes whilst doing stumps but didnt bother me. Also had a stainless steel shopping basket in a hazel stand, countless scaffold clamps, a phone line, horse shoes even the steel bands from the old horse carts most things really even the odd coin
  8. Thinking of posting the seller a link to the thread It will give him and idea of how pro us ear tree surgeons are

  12. There are 588 listings on Ebay containing the words buyer dismantles, everything from sheds, garages, machinery, hot tubs you name it all requiring verying ammounts of skill and tools to accomplish. Why should a tree be any different ?
  13. You boys make me laugh I mean what right does he have ay
  14. A copper cask with a bloke called Donald Baines ashes in it.
  15. Buy the oil and ring them from site, I dont want to put you wrong. Run the machine with the stress control off and if the rollers play up then with a hammer handle push and hold the bolt on the side of the pump for 10 seconds this will purge the pump. Some times after the oil is changed the spool valve will stick, if this happens then its any easy job to strip down so ill keep an eye on this thread just incase you have problems. Welcome to the forum by the way
  16. I burn it without any problem, nice stuff imo
  17. Bought mine new and ran it for 5 years and well over 1200 hours only wish I'd bought the diesel version. Oh and rolled it twice but still finished the job each time

  20. A friend at primary school came in to class with a flash new watch! I asked where it came from and he said he heard noises coming from his perants bedroom and when he looked his dad was playing tents with the woman next door. He said his dad gave him the watch and told him to keep quiet:sneaky2: That night I to heard noises coming from mum and dads bedroom so I went in and they were also making tents I puffed my chest out and clear a calm voice asked if I could to have a watch? "Yeah sure son" dad said "pull up a chair "

  22. Thanks Lads really appreciate the comments It was done with a stanley knife I finished it without cutting myself and then had another play and stabbed my finger so the little feller got claret on him and it would'nt sand off so after a plaster I had to re carve him.
