  1. I've plugged them in every way possible but still no joy I used a bit of rope to keep the leaver on but all I could do was lower the legs and the crane arm! I've always used the trailer with a power pack and it worked fine so do I need to do something with the valve block on the trailer?? The log splitter works fine on the back so I know oil getting there also the tipping ram works there is a lever at the back to change it over from the tipping ram to the pipes and I've turned this.

  2. I know I am being really dense. But on the back of my mog I've got 4 pugs to attach hydraulic pipes I plugged in my timber trailer to the both sets and on one of the sets all I could do with the trailer is lower the legs and the other nowt! When it's plugged in what do I do with the leaver in the cab? Do I need to have one pipe plugged in one connection on each bank? If that makes sense

The old back was naff when you tip it used to block up and it was really really heavy! I am really happy with the new one look forward to putting to work Monday

  4. It would be less profit if you use the same day rate as you would on a smaller job so up your day rate for the big jobs to cover extra fuel etc.., then you would make the same profit? As for dropping the price to get the job well that's a bit daft as its only you loosing out not the customer

  5. Like what has been said above it maybe better in the long run to think about a bigger chipper i had the Forst tow behind out on demo Monday and its a good bit of kit really well put together and some really smart design ideas :)

  6. Not to sure but If we drive about a 30 mile round trip and chip all day and take back a very full load of chip (this is when it drinks the fuel as its only 100hp) I use about £40-£50 of fuel. the chipper is a 9inch.

I have a very heavy chip box which is getting changed in the next week or so and then I will get a power upgrade to about 150hp so I hope this will help on the longer trips. I am thinking about buying a 6inch tow behind so I am not burning white while we chip also if we are chipping on site I will not take the mog

  7. I have a full c+e licence so I have never thought about it that much also the other guys who drive it have a c licence so for us that's covered. As for the comment about if you don't run it on red use a transit complete rot as a transit gets stuck in a puddle you Only have to have your tools men and stop at McDonald's for breakfast and your over weight lol. I may use a smaller truck to back up the mog but that's it and I doubt it would ever be a transit. Going back to fuel the amount of extra the white costs me is also covered by less trips back to the yard for example if I use a transit for the job I did today I would have done 5 trips to the yard but with the mog it was only 2 so a saving there and it means a grounds person is on site cutting chipping etc... (Being paid for what he does) rather than driving!

It's not I have a lot on my mind worrying about getting working getting paid making sure the jobs are running smoothly H&S etc.... To be worried about a few quid on fuel / getting pulled and fined its not worth it one less thing to worry about

  9. Well I am not 100% sure that I can as we drive it a fair way from base we also do none forestry work and is it worth getting it wrong? When I was pulled by vosa they were unsure! If it stays on site for over a week I will run it on red then drain any fuel left and fill it with white. I don't understand the rules/regs and tbh I know how much fuel it uses in a day so that gets built into the quote so it does not bother me that much paying that bit more. Oh and the vosa yard is about 500m up the rd from my yard so they sit out side every day but I think they have got board pulling me lol.

  10. I have a u1000 Unimog with front and rear linkage and a chip box.

It is Ag reg and Taxed as such. I run it on white!

The work I use it for is forestry, site clearance rd side work and some private work.

I've been stopped by the old bill and vosa and never had any problems with them when I was pulled I had a chipper on the back and half full of chip. They checked the fuel and had a moan about one of my mud guards (bit rusty) then

    Sent me on my way.

I am no expert on this subject but I have not been told I am braking and laws so will carry on as I am. :)

  11. Just had mine fixed under warranty. Starts now after 3 pulls from cold and first when warm or running out of petrol. That was my gripe, 20/30 pulls after a refuel. Ridiculous. All sorted now, and its back in my top 3:001_cool:

Did they say why it did it? What was broken?

  12. I've got one and I think it's a great saw plenty of power picks up quick. We use it every day and I will pick that one up over any of the small saws we have.

The only small point is that it can be a pain to start when warm but that's only due because I forget to follow the correct starting procedure!
