  1. Hi Guys, I think the bottom end bearing has gone in my U1000 So I need to get it to Essex so I can get it fixed, Can anyone move it for me from Downham Market (Norfolk) to Nr Chelmsford (Essex) I need to get it down there for next wednesday. It will start so It can be driven onto the low loader. many thanks
  2. I was there for a year helping run the EDF contract but left because I did not like the way they treated there staff and mainly the sub-contractors (not paying them for 90 + days) As for the LOLER yer I did go down onto the test bed was very intresting, So do you think that the ticket I have Is vaild for carrying out LOLER on Arb kit?
  3. Have a quick look at the business link website I get email's from them with tenders docs I have won 3 jobs of this site so it might be worth a look but TBH I would not bother with the others oh and dont pay for it.
  4. Hi Guys, A while back I worked for a Large company (fountains) as a manager, I was ask to go and do a LOLER course it was not NPTC it was with the National Access and Rescure centre (NARC) most of the guys were single rope access and firemen. My cert says: Inpection of PPE- Competent person, .........has attended a course inspecting and assessing the condition of PEE for working @ height. the company I worked for said this is ok to carry out LOLER on our climbing Equipment. I am not so sure I have been a climber for over 5 years etc... what do you think.
  5. It should fit but if you have no luck let me know as I am after one.
  6. yes sorted thank you spoken to some very nice and helpfull people thank you for your time will let you know via PM or phone once i know when/if we start
  7. thank you, the only reason we are using a side arm flail is because it is grown on a very steep slope and cant cut it by hand. Also as I read the tender and from my customer the knotweed is very old and has been treated before and did not work so what they are hoping is that cuting it back will make it reshoot then spray it and kill it quicker but I am not a knotweed expert and take my guidance from my customer (the expert) the site is over 20,000 mSq so digging would not really be an option.
  8. ok look guys I am working for a jap knotweed firm who only deal with this stuff so I am sure they know what they are talking about and I am quoting from the tender doc ( set out by another jap knot weed comapny the LA & defra. So thanks for your concern. I will not bother asking again. As for the distance I cover the whole of the Uk and even go into france & spain.
  9. Hi Guys, Ive got a large job coming up (end of march) just outside Redruth cornwall. I am looking for a tractor with a sidearm flail. the material to be cut is jap Knotweed bramble etc... also I may need a 6" to 8" chipper for a few days. If you are in the area and have one could you PM with a day rate with a driver. I would take mine but trying to save on the transport cost. Thanks Ed
  10. yes connaugnt did go bust but the part fountains was under did not as it was classed as a diff comany. I was talking to some one still working for fountains and edf and its not going well at all but tbh its allways been a crock of ....... glad I got out of there! they owe the subbie cutters a lot of money and not getting paid by edf as they have not hit targets (they never have)

I have a u1000 runs a 9inch fine but lacks in power when full or towing (up hill) going to get it upgraded to 125bhp (ish) so that should help a bit I run it on big off road tyres so drink alot of fuel. tbh not much more that my 90. as for running on red I got done last year. nearly cost my my cmpany as they were going to take the mog away and crush it fine 15k and jail but I took it to court and said that I had only run one tank of red in it (i had only just got it) showed them all my fuel bills for it (fuel card) and got let of with just a slaped wrist. So i will never put red in it unless I am doing forestry work with it. (can of worms) but as i read the law we (arb guys) can not use it.
  12. Not sure the name rings a bell. as for work they were looking a short while ago. I dont have much to do with the forestry side as all we did was there climbing work for them
  13. I did loads of work for Sandringham Estate so I would say that I have done a job for the Queen :-)
  14. I used to do rail for about 3 years with walkers. I loved it i took alot away from it try and get your COSS and lookout/site warden tickets because if you dont like the tree cutting side of it you could go and work for network rail. working nights was good fun it does push you as a climber working up a tree over the lines in the dark! I would say the worst bit is the BLACK THORN!! rips your arms to bits! Some one asked if fountains/counnaght are still doing rail when I was there (about a year ago) they had closed down the rail side of stuff due to the lack of work. but this may of changed.
  15. I did this once with my mog and got nicked :-( so I bought a longer draw bar and run it under the chipper (but have to lift chipper as high as you can on linkage) there was a trailer on ebay which I think would be great for what you want like others had siad talk to akins vos and or parkiargi in essex. Also you will have to look into this but you may need an O licence
  16. Well I use fuelgene fuel cards so only buy fuel from supermarket fuel stations and never had any problems (£900+ fuel a month)
  17. HI, I am with trust 10m as that is what a lot of my customers ask for :-( LA etc.. also I have all my trucks with them mogs land rovers and tools. I dont have a height restrcion with mine and it covers all sub-contractors any plant hire any trees left on site for planting and any fence work. really happy with them
  18. We have had only one call due to the wind got there and it was a TWIG!! well a little bigger but not much
  19. Waiting fot two teams to come back in and just fixed my land rover prop so came in to warm up

    Wood

I dont have any wood in my yard any more as I just got rid of a load. If people want the wood they would have to pick it up from my sites and the access changes. But when I do build up a good pile I will let you know. Ed

    Wood

Got a yard just out side Diss and 6 miles from downham market also have use of a yard in london when I am down there. but we get about a bit trying to get the work in I drive a red 90
  23. I came across this last year I was asked to fell a small wood about 200ish trees all med to large fell the guy asked us to do it on a day rate so I gave him a price. stated the work and towards the end of the job he said that we took to long. found out the next day that he was doing it for free as he sold log wood. but to cut a long story short he did not want to pay as it cost him more to transport the wood than he thought he only paid us half in the end was not happy!! Alot of the site clearance work we do they want to know how much the wood is worth and take it off the price of the job
  24. From Business support, information and advice | Business Link The GB rules will apply if you drive a van or other commercial vehicle with a maximum permitted gross weight of 3.5 tonnes or less. They may also apply to drivers of some passenger-carrying vehicles, including public service vehicles on regular services on routes of 50 kilometres. The Great Britain (GB) domestic drivers' hours rules affect most drivers and commercial vehicles that are not within the scope of the EU rules. They apply only to journeys made entirely or partly on public roads in Britain. Northern Ireland has its own domestic rules. For more information on the EU rules, see our guide on how to comply with EU drivers' hours rules. The GB rules won't apply if you are driving in a private capacity, ie not in connection with a job or in any way to earn a living. You will come under the GB rules if you drive a public service vehicle (PSV) that: * is used on regular services of 50 kilometres or less * has eight or fewer passenger seats and is used on regular services within the UK of 50 kilometres or more * has eight or fewer passenger seats and is used on non-regular services, such as a tour, private hire or a commercial excursion For definitions of what counts as a public service vehicle and how a regular service is defined, see our guide on drivers' hours rules: the basics. Other passenger-carrying vehicles driven under permit operations - or used for non-PSV use - also come under the GB rules. See this table to help you decide which rules apply to passenger carrying vehicles - Opens in a new window. If you drive a goods vehicle, you will need to follow GB drivers' hours rules if the vehicle or vehicle combination - eg a van with a trailer - has a maximum permissible gross weight of 3.5 tonnes or less, and is operated entirely within Britain. Exemptions The GB rules do not apply to drivers who do not use public roads, eg driving in connection with road improvements or road maintenance, quarrying, construction work and civil engineering works. If you drive for fewer than four hours every day in any fixed week, you do not have to meet the drivers' hours requirement for that week. A fixed week runs from 00.00 on Sunday to 00.00 the next Sunday. Not sure if this helps My mogs are argi class so its never bothered me
