  1. Yes but some people have said it will keep me on my toes when driving with a load! not bought it yet just got the money put to one side for it and had a look at a few and I thought the build/price was fair on it
  2. Trailer sorted just getting a mowi with a crane on it
  3. Thought about that but there is only about a foot of clearance under it :-(
  4. Like the look of that chipper I am over that way in the morning might pop in and have a look. I would love to upgrade to a bigger mog but at the moment I don't have £30k to spend on one and I don't borrow money. Maybe your right get a smaller chipper on the front and just buy a bog standard hitch for the back and then if needed bang a turbo onto it Or am I mad
  5. Nice idea but will cost me 15k for another chipper :-(
  6. As some of you know I have a U1000 with a recon engine ( it's a strong one) I have a 9inch chipper bolted to the back not on a 3 point linkage now I want to use it for more than just a chipping truck i want to tow a timber trailer and maybe powering a log splitter. The trailers I have been looking at are about 6 ton. Now my questions are is my 100bhp mog going to cope with pulling a 6 ton trailer? ( with out losing to much power on a small hill) Or should I get the turbo upgrade (£2800) the recon engine is a turbo engine but with no turbo. Also I will still want to use the chipper so I will need to put it on a 3 point linkage (£2600 + vat) and I will also need a pick up hitch (£???) So it's going to cost me over £6000 to do this should I just go out and buy a cheap tractor? Thanks
  7. David what HP would you need to power the chipper?
  8. If it was me I would get cs30. & cs31 first then find a job, work on the ground for a while then go for your cs38/39 Good luck
  9. I got one for my birthday took 9 hours to build :-)
  10. I do agree with you on this. Man power is so expensive now so I am trying to think out of the box a bit more with quotes and use bigger bits of kit. Eg a year ago I quoted to clear a large site a new bus lane the other two company's who quoted decided to do by hand brush cutters etc.. And would take them 15 days with 4 men I quoted to carry out the works in 2 days with 2 men and two bob cats with flails on them I think I won by about 10k and I still came out of it with a very good mark up ( bought my mog with it) But like I have said my overheads are what they are so that is reflected in my rates also our trade is a technical job and skilled job so why should we work for peanuts. I believe that we should charge a reasonable rate for what we do and if people keep dropping there prices this industry will full flat on its face! Eg If we all charged around £500 a day for 2 men a chipper etc we would not win the job on price it would be down to how you sell yourself your reputation service etc..
  11. I have asked before and I have seen the other guys prices that's how I know that I am not the cheapest. My rate is my rate it can't change unless my costs go down and I really can't see that happening ( with fuel etc... Always going up) I strongly agree with your last statement about short term saving and it costing more money in the long run to sort out the cheap option
  12. I don't think so mine does not have a tree any were near it lol The way I came up with mine was to 1st decide on a company name 2nd thought about what you do 3rd look at what other people had and try and be completely different ( no trees) 4th sit down on a computer and come up with a few ideas once I had a rough plan I sat down with a designer and we came up with 6 designs I then went away with them and when though all the above again until I decided on what I wanted I think in all it only cost about £380 ish
  13. Yes I agree with this, just had an email from my LA saying thank you for your quote but unfortunately you have been unsuccessful another company was cheeper than you and we are obliged to use the cheapest. Until about a couple of months ago I won all the work with them ( I have not changed my prices and was quoting against other company's) I know that I am not the cheapest but have always offered a good services and they have always been very happy with my work and built up a good relationship with them so I guess they are keeping a tight grip on there cash and not so worried about the service they get!
  14. No :-( handed them over to the police.
  15. Some nice gents tried to nick some of our suff but the week before I set up a load of trip wires with shotgun blanks and a couple of cameras so I got some great pictures of them pooping them selfs when the blanks went off lol
  16. Well the same standard as the guys that come out and save lives every day (paramedic) as that's who I did my training with. :-)
  17. When I was in the Army part of my job as a door gunner was being a team medic so I had been trained to a high standard. So I fix my self 90% of the time I think I've given my self about 15 stitches I find it's saves a LONG wait in A&E.

  23. Hi need to hire a road tow petrol log splitter for a few days in the west to mid Norfolk area please let me know if you have one thanks Ed
  24. Not a t150 but a t320 I have hired one a fair few times cleared about 20 big sites with one. They are great tools on the wright site. I had a large flail/mulcher on it and is very heavy so will get stuck in a bog also not great on a slope. If the ground is flat and dry its great the one I used has air con and a radio the cockpit is a good place to be good seat etc.. If I had 70k ( for the forestry spec t320/ high flow fc190) I would get one. Have a look on Skidsteersolutions Sorry if not any help as not the same machine but I take it they are fairly similar
  25. +1on F R Jones new pole saw came today Very happy I have had 3 saws off them now great team!!
