  1. The ranger service i am with generally use Dorset Training ltd. They are based at Deveril Farm, Milborne St Andrew. Not sure on prices but are about the same as Brian Charman Associates.
  2. Another £10 added to the pot Steve
  3. Dad and i went to a local Halford in our 110 and said we needed 2 new headlight bulbs and because they had an offer to fit them for £5 per bulb we were more than happy to oblige. We left them with the keys and showed them the start up procedure and went shopping. We came back 3 hours later with the bulbs still in their boxes on the drivers seat with a note saying "Couldn't change bulbs due to awkward location". They were still open so we started it up and showed them how easy it was to fit them. About 10 mins per bulb and they were replaced. We got a refund for the bulb fitting. We saw another operative putting engine oil in the header tank and antifreeze and water mix into the top of the engine as he thought the water can with oil drip was where the water goes ha ha. Just as well the owner asked for his sump to be drained and cleaned and the same for the header tank. Would have been extremely expensive otherwise.
  4. Was it growing in a Butress and were there any more around the base? It looks like old sterile Ganoderma brackets IMO.
  5. Will do. I know its on a weekend but cant remember if its this month or next month.
  6. Will let you know when we have a hedgelaying day on one of our sites Adam. We will do the thinning/tidying work before hand. Might pay to bring your own billhook or hachet as it could be a big turnout again. It was last year.
  7. Where abouts was that Beech hedge in Dorset? As one near Blandford was done last month in the same style.
  8. Good news. Its going to be rebuilt once the water level recedes as the slabs havent bee carried too far down river. BBC News - Tarr Steps to be rebuilt following river damage
  9. Another £20 to the pot here too
  10. Might be going out tonight with a few good local mates. Trouble is they havent responded to my texts yet so dunno if we are out or not. Parents might be going out round a friends for new years. So will probably be stuck at home on my own for new years for another year..
  11. The river Barle has washed 3/4 of a 3000 year old bridge away. It was a well known tourist attraction. Hopefully they can rebuild it next summer when/if the water level recedes. New Year's Eve forecast: Dry end to the year comes too late for 3,000-year-old bridge as it is washed away by raging river | Mail Online
  12. Haven't pulled it out yet. But the plan of attack is remove all the branch wood which is holding it up to hopefully cause it to snap more timber out. We would use a tirfor winch off a large ash to snap it out as the truck winches aren't quite strong enough. Marsh and Ham (Flood barrier side of Morisons car park in Blandford). Yup. Its gone down a hell of a lot from yesterday but it is on the rise again.
  13. I think the assistant TO is using the clinometre app. The rootplate hasnt moved at all but i'm suspecting it has Phaeolus at the base and in the stem judging by the bulges and buckles in the stem.
  14. Yup. Its going to be monitored by the local TO's to see if the lean gets any worse. A camera was put inside a cavity to see the extent of it and it goes up about 10 feet. The base does look odd though. On the compression side the bark plates are very large but the tension side it looks almost Oak like with the ridges.
  15. A recent victim of the strong winds. The district council who own the site are paying us to do tree work but we plan on pulling this limb out with one of the work trucks after removing the branch wood. Two big lumps have already come out but we are leaving the breaks alone as it looks good on this willow and is a fine example of natural pollarding. It does have Ganoderma lipsense growing at the base and about 3 feet above the first main union where the two stems split so will keep an eye on it.
  16. Ah ok. I know where you were then.
  17. Havent heard Saliva for ages. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMlKmELIhgY&list=HL1356813130]Saliva - Ladies and Gentlemen - YouTube[/ame]
  18. Bought £20 worth of tickets. Will be buying another lot on the 4th:thumbup:
  19. Framed as well?
  20. Oh dear lord. You didnt get one of me spewing did ya jon?
  21. On the Bulbarrow to Milton Abbas road. There was another one which was like a plug hole. the water was going into it and disappearing through the flint. There is a road which has been flowing for about 6 weeks now non stop. The ditches over flow into the road and the drains cant take it. You can drive it with a car but it has holes big enough to knock the tracking way out.
  22. Steve Bullman?
  23. Who needs tyres anyway on a car. This pothole will remove them for free:lol:
  24. Oh cool. The shoot i was at today by a log pile there was a white transit, red clio and a silver saxo. i could see a 4x4 had gone into the woods. Was that you? Its called Downhouse Estate.
  25. Had a large Wellingtonia let go in the woods we were beating in today. I walked past it about 5 minutes beforehand and you could hear the rootplate cracking and groaning. It came down with one hell of a bang. Got a fair few small dead bits down. But the wind is picking up massively at the moment. Already had a gust of 54mph and that was an hour ago. Will be taking my saw tomorrow to help out o nthe shoot i'm at. Up at Delcombe tomorrow. The top of the hill is saturated and its sandy chalk mix with flint mixed in so the trees don't have much to anchor themselves to.
