Firstly i found this delightful blackthorn in Bracken's back right main pad. He has been limping on the last drive but couldnt see anything. Got home and pulled it out. Lots of pussy gunk which stank so he now has a blue foot thanks to Terramycin. On a lighter note some shots of the two youngens.

Found this soft bracket growing on a cedar rustic picnic bench. It has been there for about 4 years and is holding up well. The legs are being replaced this year as they are just starting to rot at the base and the top weighs about 80kg. -
How much profit is there hauling timber?

The majority of lorries are on both paper and digital. I know the stobart lorries and the local hauliers are on both forms. The digital sends info back to the depot which gets saved on the system so if a lorry is involved in an accident VOSA can have the lorries hours on the road as it tracks where it has been, what load (if any) it was carrying. -

Nice one. You've just basically admitted that if VOSA pull you or any of your lorries your tachos may be tampered with so make it look like they have ha a break. In my opinion a 45 min break means you rest for 45 mins (Have a kip, cup or two of coffee, relax, etc). Not load and unload a lorry as that is still classed as work. -
Not bad despite the monsoon conditions. Shot 65 in total including 8 woodcock and a jay.

Ha ha he just plain forgot. He phoned me at 9.30 yesterday morning asking if i was on my way. Was a quick change of clothes, chuck waterprrofs in the truck, get odds n sods for food whilst truck was warming up n rush up there. I got there just as they started the first drive:lol:

Found this "slime" growing at the base of an Oak. The crown is healthy and the base has a fair bit of moss. The "slime" is growing on the south-west side and it the usual spot where dogs pee. Not sure if it bacterium or fungal related but it doesnt appear to be affecting the tree in any way. -
Not strictly tree related but countryside related

The over emotional gink that was on X factor. He cried evrytime he went through. When he went out i think his eyes were about to explode. One of the people in the world which needs a slap with a studded leather paddle across the face -
Just made me choke on my ale seeing those two responses ha ha.

Possibly salt damage in the crown and either a very wide expansion crack or the onset of Pseudomanus syrigae <spelling.

Ha ha not today jon. Had to be on my best behaviour:lol: Guns had a cracking day and may be given a guest slot on the back to back 150 bird days on the 21st n 22nd Jan.

Some pics of where i was beating today. Was good fun as it was the last day for the syndicate. Did 3 big drives and one smaller drive. Bracken was a superstar on the last drive picking up for the shoot captain. Any other beater would have walked on when seeing a bird drop in the wood but i stayed behind as the wood got narrower to the flushing point.

A mate who comes out off roading with us had a Monster discovery with a Dukes of Hazard/Dixie air horn. It bloody hilarious when you see all the off roaders jump just as he canes it through a puddle. He can do it though as it has the power to push through the deep puddles without dying.

The flail arm we borrowed from our colleagues was crap to put it politely. It didnt have the guts to munch brambles or even small twigs from the hedgerows. It was more of a verge cutter than a hedge flail despite it having the hedge heads on. The rear mounted flail was the easier option for us. -

Todays job. Clear a bridleway on a steep slope. Not a problem doing it despite having to strim all of it. Second job was to clear a byway which needed nothing but a run up and down with the tractor. -
