  1. Ha ha cheers. I said to the younger apprentices as they need a bit of educating on seeing a gurt bracket on the base of a tree that i will walk around with the woods with them and show them examples of what trees do to compensate the pathogen eating them from the inside out.
  2. I went from a walk during an extended lunch hour and took my camera with me. Lots of Gano affected Beech with some very tasty vets in there too and lots of failures both recent and post 1987. Its a fung hunters paradise throughout the year but the bit of rain has woken everything up again.
  3. What about seasoned Hornbeam? We were cutting some up today and it was every tank of fuel we had to sharpen the chains again.
  4. Gonna be a very tough weekend to keep my emotions in check as its been 3 months since Dan was taken from us. Every day since he was taken from us i have felt the void getting bigger. The bench is coming along slowly but surely. Never going to get over it for as long as i live.
  5. North West ish dorset North east is Ashmore n Chettle. Will be good to catch up mate. Will be there with the old man and a couple of work colleagues and their families.
  6. No officer. We ain't overloaded just well loaded up with grass.
  7. Apologies for those offended i meant Alcatraz but comp didn't like it to clicked on first thing. Always pays to read spell check ha ha:lol:
  8. Will be with up there. May be a bit worse for wear but i'll be up there. Everything is locked down tighter than Auschwitz at the mo.
  9. The temp site was full to bursting with 100 vans and other bits within 6 hours of opening. Just been upto the site to calm him down and ask if we can extend the site half again. Luckily as i know him and have shot with him and his son he agreed and the temp steam fair site can now hold 250 vans. Trouble is it means we have 250 vans worth of detritus to deal with next weds and then again at the end of the fair. Wish me luck folks, we're gonna bloody need it.
  10. Ha ha cool cheers. Will be putting some HP super through with some high octane fuel to clear it through.
  11. I know this is a bit of a daft question but here goes. Our Stihl gear has been running rough recently and found out why today. My younger colleagues picked up one of our Diesel cans and filled it up with petrol. There was about 5 litres of Diesel in the 20 litre jerry can. What damage will the diesel possibly have done to the fuel lines and engines? Our new KM130 R's have been smoking like crazy and have a flat spot when on pick up from idle to full throttle. So are worried about possible damage internally.
  12. Yup reported to FC with samples sent to their lab but wont hear for another week or so. Sadly it is on our doorstep already. Ash dieback found in Dorset woodland (From Bournemouth Echo)
  13. Some australe growing on a recently coppiced Crack Willow (Failure down to Australe). I would have got pics of the bigger bracket but it has Jasper and Harry nests in the stump.
  14. Spotted this gurt Hoverfly. Its called the Hornet Hoverfly and is our biggest native Hoverfly.
  15. I ain't called the waspman for nothing. Found this beauty in the trees but fairly low down.
  16. Just heard from the man doing the work, it appears when the gasket was replaced a small amount of gasket sealant got into the rocker and was holding the valves open but it looks like a fair bit of damage has been done to the valves seals and carb due to the ignition and blow back through the valves. It is repairable but its only a temp fix until it happens again.
  17. Time to bump this thread. Has anyone used Homebrew beer/wine and cider kits? Dad and i are thinking of buying a brewing kit each and then getting other gear as well.
  18. Blowing a hooly with that wonderful rain/drizzle mix. Was interesting driving back from Taunton today with the family.
  19. Cheers. Just sent those on to the man who is doing the work. We are also having another oil change and replacement gasket as the old on was leaking a bit.
