    That would have been nasty. Was the chipper running when it happened or did it just break?

    Working through my ND in Countryside Management and sticking with my college work placement. And asking the big boss for a job every couple of months. Only took about 18 months of vol work and i was promoted to field worker.

    We didnt have much snow over night just enough to make the grass white but not enough to cover it.

    We got three of em. Charlie is our eldest at 11. Then we have two brothers Bracken and Bramble. Charlie is the ragged looking one. Bramble is the tall,slender one. And Bracken is the runt and has the "saddle" on his back.

    I've got some more nice pics of Sycamore and its compartmentalisation of fungi. The first pic is of where the main fruiting body in this case being Dryads Saddle an intense white rotter entered the tree. It was a multi stemmed coppice stool that had 3 big "hazard" beams removed due to the stool starting to open up. The next 4 pics are showing the rot just making its way into the remaining stems. The fifth pic is of a very small Bleeding Canker lesion that wasnt found until the day of removal. Picture 6 shows the size of the coppice stool and clearly shows where the rot was entering the heartwood. The next three pictures are of rot on the logs that had come from about 15-18 ft up in the tree. Feel free to use and annotate.

    If it sprays out it might be where the vapour builds up and it is only released when you press down on the spout to get fuel out. We normally depress ours for a few seconds just to let the pressure drop. But i can fault either the fuel or oil spout. No leaks, No spills, No problems.

    Haha. The big boss (the one in charge of money) has said that the wheel clamp is a complete ass to remove. He has tried it and it took him about 5-10 mins to remove. We are going for a wheel "bar" system that effectively locks the back tyres together so the chassis acts as part of the locking system. It is locked to the trailer with a 1 inch thick chain and a big hardened steel padlock and it has the barrel lock in the tow hitch.

    Thats strange i have some cousins living on the Devon/Somerset border in the north of the counties and they've had 3 inches or so. Ive got some more relatives living just inside exmoor national park and its blowing like a gooden and they are having 2 ft drifts piling up against their rear windows.

    Haha. Sadly knot. But have learnt my lesson. 1. Remove wheel clamp first before moving chipper back. 2. Don't let the muppet who put the chipper on my finger go anywhere near it when removing wheel clamp. And most importantly... 3. Quicker reflexes. The wheel clamp takes about 5 mins to take off n put on as you have to slacken it off with a flat head screw driver which is the time consuming part. Might have to buy a new wheel clamp.

    We got a pretty good dea lthe other day from the council tree team we use for highway tree works. We borrowed their TW150 DH chipper for a week and at the end of the week they phoned us up as said feel free to keep the chipper we have just bought a new one. It is now our own chipper to use and lend out to the rest of the ranger service. The only trouble is only me and my boss can use it as we are the only ones in the service with tickets.

    Enough of a lever to pull it over. It had the 3 worst things for a tree to deal with. 1. Strong winds 2. Heavy persistent rain 3. Fungal problems. Although i have seen big leaning trees in the middle of summer just randomly fall over.

    If the TO had seen the Merip it would have been a 25% reduction and monitor each year for die back. Mother Nature helped everyone out as it removed a dangerous tree.

    Now that would make me yelp n swear. The last injury i had at work was a 3 corner cut in my shin when i walked into the edge of an Oak rail. I didn't pay much attention too it until my foot felt damp and my white sock was red. Quick scoot to the local A n E 30 mins later came out with 6 stitches and a big dressing. But my god did it sting when they put those sterile wipes on it to clean it out. I sadly did let a few F words fly around.

    Cheers. My dad did offer to clean it out with those alcohol free wipes. I did warn him that he may end up with a bruise or two lol. He knows im only joking but i got loads of sympathy from the guns today as i was meant to be shooting but gave the place to my dad. lol.

    Not a great pic coz of the saw dust but it looks suspiciously like Merip. Not sure which one tho. Might even been Griffola.

    Now that one makes mine look like a graze in comparison. Needless to say my dad was not amused that it had been 999'd. He did say to my colleague that it was very stupid calling it in as my colleague could have driven there. In future unless it is life-threatening (pouring blood, open fracture,etc) we will drive to the nearest A n E. We have two trucks easily big enough to lay some one down in the back in relative comfort and under cover. And both trucks are washed out every month as a minimum tyo prevent build up of nasties (mud, woodchip, rubbish bag effluent, etc).

    We wanted to have BFG A/t on our L200 but apparently they arent imported any more. So we went for some Cooper Discoverer STT. Cracking tyres. Just a bit noisy at 60 but not too bad.

    Haha. Im lucky that i'm only in one day next week as i do lots of beatin durin the pheasant season.

    The colleague who pushed the chipper onto my finger put everything else away. Whilst my boss did the relevant first aid treatment.

    Sadly i am not on the wind up about the 999 call. If it is a blood injury it is standard procedure where i am based to call for an ambulance. I think what made it go up another notch is that alot of weight on a small area so a crush injury was probable. It was query fractured as well but luckily it wasnt. This is my finger when i woke up this morning.

    Nope just blues. No need for sirens. It wasnt a big rush to get there but just a bit quicker than normal road speeds. Instead of 60 we did 80, etc. I had my colleague bring me home as my dad went to a big job just up the road involving a muck spreader and motorbike but i didnt hear anything more about it.
