  1. We wanted to have BFG A/t on our L200 but apparently they arent imported any more. So we went for some Cooper Discoverer STT. Cracking tyres. Just a bit noisy at 60 but not too bad.
  2. Haha. Im lucky that i'm only in one day next week as i do lots of beatin durin the pheasant season.
  3. The colleague who pushed the chipper onto my finger put everything else away. Whilst my boss did the relevant first aid treatment.
  4. Sadly i am not on the wind up about the 999 call. If it is a blood injury it is standard procedure where i am based to call for an ambulance. I think what made it go up another notch is that alot of weight on a small area so a crush injury was probable. It was query fractured as well but luckily it wasnt. This is my finger when i woke up this morning.
  5. Nope just blues. No need for sirens. It wasnt a big rush to get there but just a bit quicker than normal road speeds. Instead of 60 we did 80, etc. I had my colleague bring me home as my dad went to a big job just up the road involving a muck spreader and motorbike but i didnt hear anything more about it.
  6. My boss thought it was broken and it was absolutely pouring blood. My dad got thru 6 guazes before we got to the A n E and that was with a lightly applied torniquet on my arm just above the elbow. Sounds a bit OTT but i was on the verge of passing out mainly from the pain. When the ambulance arrived my dad did a quick assesment of the injury and he thought it was wise for me to go via Ambulance to A n E rather than normal road speed. Bit OTT but thats my dad. lol
  7. Yep. I had the colleague who had pushed the chipper over my finger dial 999 on my phone and it was just typical that my dad arrived. He thought it was rather funny which was unfortunate as he was the one who drove to hospital.
  8. Haha. I did my first aid course last month. And my dad is a paramedic. He was the one who took me to the local A n E. Got seen within 5 mins and was gone within 30 mins.
  9. Form has already gone to HSE as has our county council accident report form.
  10. lol. i tried to get one of my colleague to take a before pic but he went white as a ghost same as me lol.
  11. Nha i'm only off for two weeks but i've got lots of days off anyway due to the fact i do alot of beatin during the shooting season. But when i go back to work its light duties for two weeks according to the hospital. Sod em i'll just keep it clean and use my left hand to drag as apposed to my right.
  12. HAHA. Our accident record isnt as bad as people think. Granted this time last year we had one of our colleagues go to the local A n E with a broken lower leg after a tree kicked back after felling n took his leg out. But its normally only 1 or 2 accidents that require hospital treatment during the winter. I'm the first casualty now just time to wait who is next.
  13. LOL. Do maps. respond to emails n probably order a few things as well. Might be a bit dull but ive got two bosses the assistant (my boss) and the senior ranger (his boss). The senior ranger is in the office the most so i will be with him most of the day.
  14. lol. Im only in one day next week and ive been told by the boss already that i'm in the office for that day.
  15. Lost fingernail and tissue damage. Nothing much but my boss was rather surprised at the language that came out of my mouth when it first happend.

  17. Cheers. Only two weeks off work and light duties after that for another two weeks. Whats worse its my damn trigger finger and i am meant to be shooting tomorrow! Bloody typical.
  18. I am now part of the Arb injury club. We had been shifting logs all day and we were just swapping the trailer ad chipper around for tomorrow. We put the trailer in no problem but the chipper has an SAS Wheel clamp on it. We generally unlock and slcken it to get it off the wheel. Just to save time we slackened it but not fully just enough that we could get the wheel to turn and not have it hit the nuts or the tyre. Sadly i was the lad on the wheel clamp. I held it up enough for the wheel to rotate but the lad who was pushin it is a bit of a brute and doesnt do things steadily. I yelled "Slow down a bit mate. STOP.STOP.STOP.STOP. BACK TOWARDS YOU NOW NOW NOW!!!". It was too late the index finger went underneath the wheel clamp n wedged in between the tarmac and the wheel clamp bottom. This is the result. I know the H +S bods would frown on what i did but i have learnt my lesson as has everyone else. Especially the dick pushing the chipper.
  19. We bought some halogen/krypton mix bulbs for our Defender. We self adjusted ours at home as the were both point down n heavily to the near side. They are now both spot on. We put the same bulbs in our spots as we do a fair bit of lamping so we need the extra distance.
  20. I would buy a big tract of woodland and have the shooting rights to it. I would also harvest it for timber every other year. Maybe buy a small farm and have a small family shoot on it.
  21. If the contractors we use to fell large swathes of tree left that kind of damage we wouldn't pay them until the dmaaged area has been repaired. We got told off by the boss for chewing up the edges of a trailway but you cant help it when there has been about 4 inches of rain the night before.
  22. We run the 441's bigger brother the 460. We have all Stihl Kit where i am based as you can get hold of the parts easily and they are easier to maintain that the same powered Husky.
  23. If it has a slight lean we use the team of guys. If it has a bit more of a lean or will get hung up we use the work trucks. One of them has a winch, the other doesnt. Or if it has a massive lean we use the tirfor.
  24. Just out of interest. What knots do people use when they are felling a leaning tree. We normally use a quick release knot at the tree end and a loop knot with a piece of wood thru the loop knot end so it is easier to undo after the tree has fallen. We have just started to use a knot the somehow i came up with and has never gone wrong. Unlike our quick release. Luckily nothing has been damaged other than a farmers old steel trough.
  25. Cook the breasts in garlic butter for a few minutes and have a bit of curly kale and a few spuds. That normally does it for me.
