Looks. good. That was a crazy garden to use a mini skid steer in! Would have been quicker and easier by hand. For a more open space that'll be a handy tool.

Show me where on that page it mentions sociology students. The experiments on that page were for medical research- it's commonly known that monkeys are used for this.

My Makita LXT 18v grinder is great, but I would take a suitcase genny and normal grinder every time if I was wanting to sharpen in the field regularly. It's painfully slow compared to a real grinder, even one running off a genny.

It's sustainable with foresight. I mean, that's why the FC was originally set up. Foresight is one thing this country is somewhat lacking in these days, however. As for sustainable as a fuel, I'd be interested to see the calculations as regards land required to heat every home with a woodburner. Possibly far better efficiency to be had from local CHP plants? -

I have a groundworks client who is applying for planning for a garage near a tree. Council have asked for tree survey. Garage requires only 3 x 1m3 foundations for the brick piers. Could be a good opportunity for someone with an airspade if that would help get it through planning? PM me if you can help and I will send you his number. Thanks.

A huge amount is is down to the driver, but grippy offroad tyres on a 2WD really make the difference. And snow chains will get you out of almost any situation bar being bellied out. Re the flood above the headlights in the Escort- that was certainly more luck than judgement that you didn't hydrolock it or get swept downstream in a light van with a huge sail area.... Two inches deeper and that'd have been goodbye engine.

I never understand this. Why stick thick cord in a jet cut and have to keep pulling out the old bit (wasting a good 5" depending upon how short you let it get, and short = inefficient also) when you could just run a blade and do it properly? If you like the serrated stuff then the 4mm can be coerced to run reasonably in an Autocut head.

Something wrong with the 460 then, they are leagues ahead of the 400, and that was a bloody good machine too! They are M-tronic, never had a problem with mine but it sounds like yours could do with being reset?

I call bullshit. Sociology is a 'soft' degree option. If anyone is capable of dissecting dead/live brains and interpreting the results thereof then they'd be studying brain surgery. There's no way they'd waste even a dead brain on a sociology student.

Looks good. How much use is the grab though compared to pallet forks with a log clamp? Or is that in the pipeline? I appreciate you can drag longer lengths with the grab but that's no use in back gardens where you'd want such a small machine.

Just checked, Stihl orange is 2.4mm and red is 2.7mm Other brand colours vary.

Use the smaller head (autocut 20-25) and stick the larger nut in so it fits the FS450. Run 2.4mm (Stihl orange) line. Precise and delicate but plenty of power. If you have thicker things like docks and light brambles, use the larger Stihl 4-way head with the Stihl red (2.9mm?) line. For anything thicker, forget cord and get a mulching kit. Excellent strimmers. FS460 is even better.

Ugly is deterrent. I'd be surprised if Stihl are doing this. Too much money to be made selling insurance replacements.

Fedima are what you want and tyres direct are the go-to guys. They will transform the van. Amazing grip on wet roads too. Load rating is good, speed rating is good unless you're planning a bank job. You get the same life out of them as although they are much softer compound they have more tread to begin with. I never had any problems with the three sets that I used, not even a puncture. I have a lot of experience pushing cheap 2WD cars to the limit

You can be covered third party only driving other vehicles with the owners permission, subject to the other vehicle having insurance of it's own. It's on my policy and plenty of other peoples. You can't buy a Porche and a Robin Reliant, and only insure the Reliant.

It's a 12v pump. That is all. For a small 3-cylinder engine the one treequip posted is perfect. Fit it in five minutes and forget. Or pay £200, your call.

^ Beat me too it. Those are bombproof, mine has over 1000 hours of operating time on it since being installed, never had a problem with it. I can top the price you were quoted too. £800+ VAT for my digger
