  2. Got the book today and what a really great well thought out book. Excellent pictures as well. Well worth it.
  3. Unless you are paid monthly and it comes out of that.
  4. An employer has no right to ask someone to carry out work they are not trained to do, yes it costs money but its better than it costing a life.
  5. Well what the hell is it lol
  6. I keep bees so I know how you feel.
  7. ask the person thats asking you to do the job to sign something to say they take full responsibility for any mishaps due to you not being trained to do the work.
  8. Cant see how they can legally tell you to do them without the tickets.
  9. Not the sort of thing to post enough kit getting nicked without telling them where it is.
  10. Cheers just ordered 2 copies from them (one for a mate)
  11. The thing with this is everyone knows they should have the papers for it. Otherwise why bother with any of them.
  12. Anyone got fungi on trees an arborists' field guide for sale as bookshops all seem to be out of stock
  13. wear your chainsaw gear to the police station.
  14. Same sort of thing in that as well Chainsaws and aerial tree work 26 For professional chainsaw operators working in forestry and arboriculture, AFAG recommends that the minimum level of adequacy of training for chainsaw operations – including aerial tree work, pruning and dismantling – be confirmed by an independent assessment, leading to a recognised certificate of competence in the relevant activities. This is also a common requirement in contracts of service.
  15. This is the bit that matters ‘All workers who use a chainsaw should be competent to do so. Before using a chainsaw to carry out work on or in a tree, a worker should have received appropriate training and obtained a relevant certificate of competence or national competence award, unless they are undergoing such training and are adequately supervised. However, in the agricultural sector, this requirement only applies to first-time users of a chainsaw.’ This means everyone working with chainsaws on or in trees should hold such a certificate or award unless: it is being done as part of agricultural operations (eg hedging, clearing fallen branches, pruning trees to maintain clearance for machines); and the work is being done by the occupier or their employees; and they have used a chainsaw before 5 December 1998.
  16. Would think most of it is now on its last legs for this season. Seems to be dying off most places.
  17. lol love the bit of "safety" rubber holding the pin in
  18. Well done mate it's a great feeling passing an assessment
  19. VEG

    Why?

    Hockey sticks lol
  20. I did this and pulled it off with a land rover along with all the render on the pine end of the house. But I got the chap to sign a disclaimer as I told him it would pull it off.
  21. I didnt say I agreed with it but the supermarkets have a huge part to play in the demise of the pub. Loads of pubs have shut in my area, lots of people now drink in the house before going out. The pubs then have to make up that loss some how. I totally agree with you about the pub atmosphere as well.
  22. Biggest problem is the price of booze in the supermarket compared to the pub. On average a pint of larger in a pub £2.50+ when a slab from supermarket cost about £10 thats without the special offers they have on. Lots more drink at home now instead of the pub.
