  2. Just looks like a normal garden spider to me!
  3. If it's not likely to fall, or cause havoc if it does fall, then I'd leave it be. Woodpeckers love a bit dead ash up high
  4. That'd be good, I'd like to see inside it. I'm surprised you haven't already to be honest! You seem like an inquisitive fellow...
  5. A shame, though that sounds like a great idea. So will it be left to rot, or carved into something perhaps?
  6. Could be related to a localised decay. Or, I've seen similar before when the branch is supported by another at the change in diameter, the tree will put on more growth where it needs to; So it gets thicker beyond the point of support
  7. A real shame. Any plans to encourage phoenix regen style rooting? Give it a chance to continue maybe...
  8. Great shots, amazing how much growth there is each year. ..

    Jokes???

We always hear “the rules” from the female side. Now here are the rules from the male side. These are our rules: Please note… these are all numbered “1″ ON PURPOSE! 1.*Shopping is NOT a*sport. And no, we are never going to think of it that way. 1.*Crying is blackmail. 1.*Ask for what you want. Let us be clear on this one:Subtle hints do not work!Strong hints do not work!Obvious hints do not work!JUST SAY IT! 1.*’Yes’ and ‘No’ are perfectly acceptable answers to almost every question 1.*Come to us with a*problem*only if you want help solving it. In fact, all comments become null and void after 7 days 1.*If you think you’re fat, you probably are. Don’t ask us 1.*If something we said can be interpreted two ways, and one of the ways makes you sad or angry, we meant the other one 1.*You can either ask us to do something or tell us how you want it done.*Not both…!!*If you already know best how to do it, just do it yourself 1.*Whenever possible, please say whatever you have to say during commercials 1.*Christopher Columbus*did not need directions and neither do we 1.*ALL men see in only 16 colours, like*Windows*default*settings.*Peach, for example, is a fruit, not a colour. Pumpkin is also a fruit.*We have no idea what mauve is. 1.*If it itches, it will be scratched. We do that. 1.*If we ask what is wrong and you say “nothing,” we will act like nothing’s wrong. 10. A favourite word of mine Any idea on the uk wide spread? I am sending a sample to Kath Tubby at the FC who seemed interested I spotted this on the Essex / Suffolk border. As far as I'm aware it is a London and Bristol issue, I've certainly not seen it before...
  11. Whadaya reckon? Dead bark falling away on top of the branch, lesion extends around 5 or 6m from attachment to main stem shown in the photo. A sizeable branch, maybe 6 inch diameter. It has partially failed at a small cavity around 2m from base and is resting on a bigget branch below. Some black patches present on the dead bark...
  12. Also very, very nice head tilted or not!
  13. Inonotus hispidus, very common on old apples...
  14. Looks likely. If you can see if the stem is shaggy with scales it's a dead giveaway
  15. Cheers David. I dont thjnk I've ever seen a failure from Ps, but looking back I think I have dismantled/chopped up a few with the decay characteristics present.
  16. Good shots David. Would you say that the felts are typical of this fungi?
  17. Once kretz is established, on most species, I feel the trees days are numbered. Sycamore and lime in my experience cope even less well than beech with kretz. Given that it results in a sudden brittle fracture with no warning, I'd be very uneasy retaining a sycamore that size with anything more than rural fields or fences etc as possible targets. Even then I'd be looking to reduce the sail/weight of the crown. If that's a tree you're giving advice on, my money is on it being little more than a stump with wiggly black lines in it within 6 months
