  1. I'd be worried if that was on the tip of my tongue! Great photo, did you take it? Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  2. Did it have gills or pores? Possibly one the boletes, if so, mycorhizal. Few fungi on the ground can affect tree stability as a general rule... Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  3. Go away I particularly like, well, all of them! Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  4. I thought I spied a hint of white spore on top of a cap, could just as easily be mouldy though! Did they have an odour? In my experience with P squarossa it has a very distinctive smell, kind of like peppery garlic... Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  5. I've heard of people encountering groups of eastern Europeans collecting fungi to sell at market/to restaurants etc from Epping Forest. I'd be more surprised if it doesn't go on to be honest - I imagine a good early forage at the right time could pay handsomely in parts of London... Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  6. Leucopaxillus giganteus, giant funnel, methinks. Apparently a fairy ring of these half a mile across was found in france, 800 odd years old! Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  7. Ringless honey fungus maybe. Definitely not merip... Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app

  11. I think I saw it on sycamore once, many moons ago, I might not have done though! Don't give up on that there theory just yet - it seems tomatoes are asterids too, and forsythia... Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  12. Not sure what an Asterid is, time to go look I guess. For what it's worth I've seen it mostly on holly, but also sycamore (I think) and also on a dandelion last year (on the flower stem and actual flower) and this year on a tomato plant, extending from stems to fruits. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  13. Well said. Might be worth the OP contacting the Arboricultural Association too... Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app

  19. Very pretty fungi, almost erotic... Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  20. Hi, on the hunt for someone with experience in 5837 reports and their own PI insurance in Essex. I may need cover for a job, asap if I get the go ahead. Please pm or email [email protected] if you can help. Cheers, Kevin Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  21. Daedalia quercina and Xylaria poylmorpha or longipes? Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  22. I expect the voice of greater experience is correct! Good find either way. As a side note David, following those 'tree-fungi' links in the app take me to a thread about 'going down?' and Marie Curie cancer charity, and a thread called 'the talk'. A glitch in the arbtalk matrix? Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  23. Hericeum erinaceus. Nice find Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  24. Fuligo septica? I let someone else guess that last one David. Looks like slightly melted honeycomb. Should be easy enough to tempt others... Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  25. A fair size that one, with a camping stove and some basic ingredients a fine feast for the workforce at lunch time Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
