  1. Perhaps that's where I heard it originally David, and then only half remembered as I'd already bought it! It's a great resource, I wonder how many have taken advantage of it?
  2. As this is a 'guess the fungi thread' here's a clue to help you: Famously found on the beaches at low tide...

  6. Very good book indeed, paid £30 for mine, I think I heard it is now available free as a pdf too, so no excuse not to read it!
  7. Did the spalting consist of many thin black lines? If so another good indicator of kretz decay, and not good for a leaning stem in a playground. Be great for turnery and the like, I suppose longer bits could be ripped in half lengthways for manageability, if it's worth your while...
  8. Many stag headed oak round here, either in hedgerows or fields, ploughed as close to the stem as possible. Seems to cause it more than a concrete jungle rooting environment...
  9. If it is kretz, which is likely, it could have some wonderful spalting in it...
  10. Cheers N, so that will clear all passwords for websites, bank details etc?
  11. I'm going to pass on my Windows 7 PC as I only ever use my laptop, haven't even turned the PC on for over a year. I have the back up/boot disc things I copied when it was new, if that helps. There is nothing on it I need to save for myself. So, I'm looking to just wipe it completely clear, like new. I've looked online and been baffled by it all, can anyone explain it simply for me please?! Thanks in advance, Kev

    Jokes???

I dated a girl once with a seashell tattoo on her inner thigh. If you put your ear to it I swear you could smell the ocean.
  13. Certainly looks like deusta, bad news if so...
  14. That if one were small enough, you could get lost in that maze?
  15. I worked with a guy who hit a can of spray paint with one of the Stihl curved metal blades - that made him colourful in clothes and language!
  16. Awesome, you could soon get lost in the spalting
  17. Very nice indeed. What will they be used for?
  18. Never good to hear. Here's hoping for a quick and full recovery...
  19. Not sure I get this comment...
  20. Tread carefully here, are you in a position (and insured) to be investigating and offering advice on the presence and significance of subsidence/heave, and offering solutions? Firstly, a tree might cause heave when it dies or is removed as the ground gets wetter and swells. I suspect your client is worried about subsidence, where a tree might dry the soil causing shrinkage, and movement of foundations. Of course there can be many other causes of cracks in walls too - leaky drains, altered ground water table heights, inadequate foundations/buildings etc. Before you go cutting roots and trees first ascertain the actual cause of the cracks in the wall, using specialists if needed. If the client has buildings insurance they could be a good first port of call...
  21. Brilliant, coffee just came out both nostrils!
