  1. I have to say that the "Trees in the snow" pics were inspired by Michael Kenna's excellent Japenese stuff All on Grange Fell in the Lakes.
  2. Wow, that was quick Thanks for the compliments, I'de better find some more! Dean - My Mum was an artist and photographer for a while, I havent have any formal training but I have learnt a lot from her but I work very differently, more photoshop - less film! Sam
  3. Hello all Well I think im ready to have my own picture thread. I will point out now that this is not in the same vain as thoose excellent types by Hamad, Monkey-D etc. Its just me posting some pictures of trees I hope you enjoy, and feel free to slate, praise, or excumunutcate me atb Sam
  4. Dont you mean Noah? Sam
  5. Amen to that! Buy quaility buy once, buy cheap buy twice! The Meindl Waldlaufer (means Wood Walker - if my German is up to scratch!) I have recently bought are absalutely brilliant, so much better than the Husky Wellies I had before, but more expensive. Good boots and a good bed, if your not in one your in yan other as my Grandad used to say. As for troosers, I like my ForestWear Classics, but I dont climb - so thats not much use to you is it! Sam
  6. Would love a northen foray. Ther is a 2,000 year caledonian forest I know that we could probably use, its north of Inverness though - so that might be a bit far up! I think Borders/Lakes/Northumberland area would be good. Sam
  7. Im looking at upgrading my current saws (non-professional) to something of a higher calibre. I love the Husky 576XP, and liked the one I tried, but this issue seems to crop up time and time again both on here and with the professional users I know. This is the reason I am looking towards paying that extra money for a MS460 or MS441. If they would get their act together about it then I would certainly go Husky. Sam
  8. Rather be sticking my head in the oven Me and Dad go the pub, or COD Sam
  9. Thanks for that chaps Im gonna keep the price around £15-£35 depending on size. Non will be finished with anything at that price My mother is a baker, and has a stall on a local farmers market. Next one will be cakes and 'shrooms Local gift shop has agreeed to sell them for me (taking 10%). Ill let you know how it goes Very happy Sambo
  10. Yeah, just re-read Frank Funny guy Sam
  11. Typo? Or most de-railing post ever?! Sam:lol:
  12. BOOK! I would buy it. I think a cross between a guide/experiances/philosophy would work brilliantly. Your posts are always top of the list to read when I log in. Something similar but chaptered? More than happy to read anything through for you Sam
  13. Hamad. Top right picture reminds me off a quote I love; "A forest of trees is a spectacle too much for one man to see" Sam
  14. Does anyone sell simple carvings? Mushrooms, chairs etc? Im no-where near the Tommy Tree Carvers of this world but I can do a reasonable mushroom and seat. I have recently been using them as gifts (Cheap ) and quite a few people have said how good they look, how much they would like one etc. One of my Mothers friends payed me £25 for a mushroom out of pine I was so shocked I nearly said dont be silly, give us a tenner! Is that a normal price? Did I rip her off? Did she rip me off? What do you sell yours at? Do you think shops would buy them? Sorry for all the questions, just thinking it might be a reasonable little earner Thanks Sam
  15. You get this in every proffesion, sport, hobby etc! I think you have to take the best from both ways of thinking Sam
  16. We have a Barrel Stove by Clarke in the study, it is very good. About three years old - I wouldnt hesitate buying another. In the lounge we have a Morso Panther, its better but twice the price! The barrel is quite small though, so I dont think it would be ideal for bigger room. But the quality is good Sam
  17. That is one lovely Pollard Hamad:thumbup1: Sam
  18. Sounds about bob on too me If I sell mine (so very rarely) I do it by the "fill your truck, and we will fettle a price" method Sam (Hope you dont mind me using your website Lindisfarne Charcoal)
  19. Link works Very, interesting. Sam
  20. linky no no worky Sam
  21. Ahh cheers bud Will give that a try. I normally use pine and they dont come out nearly as well as that! Sam
  22. Nice going, Lovely finish on the 'shrooms , can I ask how you make them so smoooth, looks like theres more too it than sandpaper and elbow grease Like the dragon very much, I think that simpler clean lines look much nicer Sam
