  1. Little tip to stop it binding into itself is after you have done 1wrap along the whole drum do a quick left to right and back again, that normally stops it digging in so much. Still find it catches though if you have had to wind in under load, but at least when you come to use it each time it's ready to go if you set it up after last use. 2. Cutter has stopped engaging. I think it's the switch, I've checked the solenoid and that still works. Does any one know what wire does what on the back of the switch? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App http://Www.colwoodlandcare.co.uk
  3. I'm after a compact mulcher for hire. I need to get in between small oaks, approx 15-20ft high with Canopus around 6ft. The area of approx 2-3 acres it full of brambles-horthorne and black Thorne, stem diameters no larger than 3". Would Coppards baroness hammer knife be able to deal with the blackthorn etc? 4. No no there not getting sold. He split them out side and moved them in on a rainy day. Ever since white mold has been on them. They were sat around for 4-5 months before he split them. Thanks guys I'll re assure him. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App http://Www.colwoodlandcare.co.uk
  5. Friend of mine stacked some logs that he had split last winter, they all went in wet and have now got white mold on. He's now concerned they won't burn, would the best idea be to put them back outside again to air for the remainder of the summer? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App http://Www.colwoodlandcare.co.uk
  6. Do they do step by step exams as you progress through the course? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App http://Www.colwoodlandcare.co.uk
  7. Hmm interesting. My friend who's also a local TO is being put on the Masters by the council. I'm sure this has probable been answer else where but is there any other exams that you can study at home at your own pace then take either the hole exam at once or modules? Like many others some times I don't have time to sit down a start leaning by the time I've got back done the paper work and head to bed. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App http://Www.colwoodlandcare.co.uk
  8. I've been in the industry for 7 years now, always ran my own company but we occasionally sub for a friends firm. Never done college from Arb, done my ntpc's. I'm dyslexic and struggled a lot when I was at college doing horticulture. I brought the book last week as I indeed to get some arb theory behind me. It's amazing how quickly it is going in, I find most of the information I already know just didn't know some of the names for it. Planning on spending 1 week on each chapter. Fingers crossed I pass at the end. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App http://Www.colwoodlandcare.co.uk
  9. Cool. I'll take a look. Got lead down the line of a dud battery after it wouldn't hold its charge. But after putting a new battery on its gone flat after doing a few days grinding. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App http://Www.colwoodlandcare.co.uk

  11. Tr8 I could understand. We have an st6 but when we need to get volume though quickly we borrow a friends Gm with a 9-11" opening. Get some one to stand on top of the feed roller motor to allow some more crushing ability. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App http://Www.colwoodlandcare.co.uk

  14. We brought are friends 28 after he upgraded to the 38. Personally think it's one of the best for its size. Agree it won't fit through a 26" gate but add another inch to that and you will make it through. My friend put 400 hours on ours and it's never had any tracking issues. 16. That could be a bit of an issue. The clients neighbour has the knot weed but isn't bothered by it. My client wants to stop the spread into his garden without paying out to get rid of it from the neighbours. Would you say a 2-3m deep root barrier wouldn't stop it. 18. I've had some one enquire about putting in a root barrier to stop the spread of Japanese knot weed. What sort of depth should I be going to? 2m. Also where is a good place to purchase root barriers.
  19. Finally gone and done it. Good bye pedestrian green mech and hello predator. Main choice of the 28 over 38 was the saving with diesel. Didn't take long today to get it dirty. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App http://Www.colwoodlandcare.co.uk
  20. Never a good idea but I got thinking the other day and decided to buy a heart rate, calorie, step , sleep monitor. It's not to bad but it doesn't monitor your heart rate unless you hold your finger on it and I'm assuming it's only changing the calories burnt by how many steps your doing. Is there a device that is better suited to working out how many calories ect we are doing while climbing. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App http://Www.colwoodlandcare.co.uk
  21. P28x or p38x So trying to decide which on to go for. We need a grinder that will fit through the standard gateway so can't go any bigger. Obversely diesel being cheaper but despite the diesel being 10hp less how much less torque does it have. Side by side how much slower is the 28 compared to the 38. 23. It was the long leaver. As a temp fix drilled it out put a pin in the whole and glued it. Then re fitted it to the spider jack. Should last till the new one arrives. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App http://Www.colwoodlandcare.co.uk
  24. Dam leaver snapped by the grub nut and fell off. Took a while to get down. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App http://Www.colwoodlandcare.co.uk
  25. So I've been using a dimand disc on the grinder for a while which does the job ok although not the fastest it's good for on site touching up. I've just purchased a 8" wetstone bench grinder and need to buy a decent wheel for doing the stump grinder teeth. I've heard green wheels, can any one recommend a good 8" one?
