  1. If i can make it I would love a lamb chop it would be nice to put faces to names!
  2. I think all he was asking was if someone has had an early finish and they are local would the fancy chipping a bit of brash for a few quid. I appreciate that the very experenced guys on here would have no time to do this kind of thing and their time is worth more..... but there are also people just starting out with their first chipper and £50 is worth a look on the way home If no one is intrested then dont worry, he was only seeing if someone had the time and the means and im sure if you turned up and said you can do it for 60 he would say yes poor guy even said he would do the chipping while you watch! or earning 50 quid while you eat your lunch on a saturday afternoon:thumbup:
  3. Hi all! im after a bit of advice im buying my own personal rope for use with a hitch climber & knut and want to know if this is ok? New England Tachyon (Orange) Rope - Eye Spliced I've used yale poison ivy with a hitch climber before and really liked it but was told the tachyon was a better option in work i climb on yale xtc fire but i use prussic loops as that is what everyone else uses so its just easier and quicker untill i get better with the hitch climber. All opinions welcome good and bad if anyone uses either ropes what are the pros and cons of both ropes? Thanks in advance
  4. that has been my general experience of groundies anyway:001_tt2:
  5. totally agree the new vw looks lovely, only downside is they are only doing a 2l version for the diesel, but if towing big stuff is low on the agenda then the vw is the one for me
  6. A simple no should do it! 500 years versus a 3day festival no brainer really. Another option must be available, if its a hippy festival there would be uproar and i doubt very much if it would return for a second year if the party people learnt of the destruction.
  7. got to say the haix protector pros are the best boot i have had to date, took a week or so to wear in but i would not hesitate to recomend them to anyone. Two of the boys in work have the no risk boots one has had one boot fall apart in 6 months but climbs everyday and the other climbs 3 days a week and his boots are fine. If it were me i would save the little bit extra and go for the pros
  8. I have been guilty of all of the above including taking the tops off fence posts untill I met a contractor who had a scar as thick as a finger running down from his eye to his throat and he was a very lucky one and glad to be alive. Since then i have stoped using one on the ground totally as like most of us have already said he was only doing one cut on the ground and then the next thing he knew it was in his face..... not a good look! Stay safe people! just because you have been doing it for years and it hasn't happned yet it dosen't mean it wont happen!
  9. Just found this on youtube it looks pretty simple [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UghIS9xdiDw&feature=related]YouTube - splicing double braid[/ame] no rope will be safe if its as simple as that guy makes it look!
  10. Its the size of my forearm for me or a multisaver round the trunk if nothing tidy is around
  11. Its unreal how stupid people can be, this is one 5 mins from my house A MAN has been caught drilling holes into trees and pouring pesticides into them at a Gower beauty spot.
  12. If a product of any discription was "saw proof" It would be plastered all over it as it would be one hell of a selling point!
  13. is it the main road to cymer?
  14. I think if you are at all concerned then there is a big flag saying your rescuer is not upto the job! The solutions are this; 1. Ask your boss to take time to train the other guy up so you are happy to work with him as a rescuer. 2. if your boss says no and you are actually worried about his ability then train him yourself on the weekends or in work when time permits. 3. Work somewhere else, you can always earn more money while you are alive with all your limbs, its much harder if you loose one! Its a rough position to be in best of luck and i hope it gets sorted with minimal hassle for you!
  15. just relax dont get worked up the assesment schedual makes it souns so scary but its not! they are not there to fail you they want you to pass but cant pass you if you do something stupid. read up on working at height regs, loler regs, risk assesment and look over the assesment schedual and you WILL be fine! good luck

  20. realign the drop arm on the powersteering it has most likley had a reconditioned steering box put on and the monkey that did it didn't centerlise the box before putting on the drop arm. word to the wise you will need a bearing puller to get the armoff as they can be like a ducks bum under water and i think a 34mm socket to undo the nut
  21. try a discovery 1 200 or 300 tdi on a classic car/ specilist 4x4 insurer you can get a tidy one for around a grand
