  1. I've just bought my second 540xp and the newer one seems better on the choke, older one needed choke a couple of pushes on the primer and still often ran lumpy for 30 seconds or so, newer one, one pull with choke on and it's away
  2. Yes but it's free for moving wood/ woodchip, takes about 5 minutes online, really can't see any point in it as you don't get a certificate and there's no test or anything but helps you stay legal
  3. Locked up in an alarmed site safe, they smashed off the alarmed padlock and threw it in a bucket of water, ignored the main padlock and broke the safes shackle instead, down to an old 200t now until get up and running again and will be finding somewhere else to keep tools in future as expect a second visit
  4. Just found all my tools stolen, t540xp Ms261 ms361 h81r km85 plus all the attachments and br500 from near Dunstable. Put an extra lock on your stuff TODAY, don't wait.
  5. Got stopped a few weeks back by an unmarked car, they checked the chipper wasn't stolen and told me off as the cable had broken (literally happened the day before) then the police officer informed me that I wasn't allowed to tow a chipper behind a transit having a post 97 licence, asked him to prove he was right as I knew he had no idea what he was on about, which he duly tried to, and backtracked when checked the laws. Muppet
  6. Could be worse, I know someone who bought an identical one to that a few years back, halfway home the engine blew up Sent from my HTC One using Arbtalk mobile app
  7. After a hard day's graft just been handed a cheque post dated to Friday and told not to cash it until then (not impressed at all) so am very seriously going to look at a card payment options and stop all cheques Sent from my HTC One using Arbtalk mobile app
  8. Omg made me all queasy when you see it dangle (not to give it away) Sent from my HTC One using Arbtalk mobile app
  9. This is the Oregon bar I got for it, was £26 from chainsdirect. Will see how it holds up but can't be worse! I'll see if can get old bar replaced too under warranty so have a spare Sent from my HTC One using Arbtalk mobile app
  10. They are definitely not up to the job. I've just put on the new oregon bar ready for the morning, haven't used it yet but can't be any worse. Is the bar covered by the warranty? I'm thinking that it's been like this since the saw way new as first happened on its second day out Sent from my HTC One using Arbtalk mobile app
  11. No wonder it's been chewing up chains, I can move the nose sprocket about 2 mm. Hope the new bar I ordered is there when I get home as have to shelve the saw until then Sent from my HTC One using Arbtalk mobile app
  12. Think I've figured the problem. Was using it just now and noticed the end of the bar didn't look right, took it apart and the tip has splayed out! Very poor. Photo attached Sent from my HTC One using Arbtalk mobile app
  13. Cost about £3 can't see why it would be operator error, been using saws for 15 years with no issues Sent from my HTC One using Arbtalk mobile app
  14. Not with the amount of burring this saw causes! Can't even pull it straight. I've had chains come off of the 200t and got them back on again no problem. I think attempts to run this chain again would damage the bar rather than 'fix' the chain. As it's not been sharpened I will see if can get those links replaced when passing the dealer Sent from my HTC One using Arbtalk mobile app
  15. Can't complain about the power of the saw, only thing I don't like in the department is the choke situation, having to use it all the time, not end of the world though. I'm tempted to get a spare av spring incase it goes going by what you guys have experienced with it Sent from my HTC One using Arbtalk mobile app
  16. Oiling is fine, uses it at a good rate. The bar feels like not up to scratch due to the speed it burrs and loses the paint, I don't know if that's a husky thing as never owned one before. Im wondering if the metal is softer and there's some flex there causing the chains to come off. This morning I checked the tension and ten minutes later it was off, dead chain, last spare and another order needed incase goes again next week! Sent from my HTC One using Arbtalk mobile app
  17. That's why I'm thinking the bar may be at fault. Ive been checking tension more often than usual to prevent it and am running the stihl full chisel if that makes a difference Sent from my HTC One using Arbtalk mobile app
  18. I've ordered yet another chain and an Oregon bar to go with it. Shame to have to do this already. I've only owned stihl (and some echos) before now and the bars last for years as does the paint! Sent from my HTC One using Arbtalk mobile app
  19. I was a bit dubious when the paint fell off of it on the first job I did with it! Has some burring on it already too and hasn't been worked hard. Do you known if the Oregon bar is still the 52 links? Thanks Sent from my HTC One using Arbtalk mobile app
  20. I've been running a t540xp for about 6 weeks now and it's is far too often kicking the chain off and destroying the drive links in the process. I've been through about 5 chains since owning the saw and only sharpened one, once! Really tired of paying out for new chains. (yes the tension is correct) never happened with my 200t. Does anyone have a recommendation to solve this issue? I'm running stihl chains and techlite bar, thinking of swapping the bar out as think it's the problem, but to what? Sent from my HTC One using Arbtalk mobile app
  21. Some of the seo email ones I get are now followed up a day later with another email effectively calling you rude for not replying! Sent from my HTC One using Arbtalk mobile app
  22. Here's mine from the same angle, looks the same? it's fairly oily under the air filter too, first time I've taken it off to check as the saw is only a week old Sent from my HTC One using Arbtalk mobile app
  23. Been using mine all day conny bashing and haven't noticed any smoke at all Sent from my HTC One using Arbtalk mobile app
  24. Just bought one too. Got a stihl chain fitted and cuts very well, although that chain came off today (second day on the job) and destroyed some of the links. How are you guys getting on with the techlite bar? The paint came off on the first day so bit worried about it's longevity? Sent from my HTC One using Arbtalk mobile app
  25. Bought one along with some alarmed padlocks on a whim, haven't quite worked out how to pull the cable out yet but hardly looked at it. The padlocks they are doing for 8.99 are worth getting, not the most secure but loud enough when played with Sent from my HTC One using Arbtalk mobile app
