  1. Ouch!!! Think thats the worst I've seen, hope it heals quick.

    My new VT

Yeah sorry its 8mm sirius cord. Not tried beeline, so the wraps/braids will vary.

    My new VT

Its samson velocity, good rope. I find mine works well with the cheap sirius cord, green and black stuff. About 75cm length, 3 wraps, 3 braids.
  4. I did! Had some red blotches on back of my hands which then scqbbed over slightly, all but faded now. Seemed similar to the rash giant hogweed can give you but not as severe. My boss, who was grounding, didn't have any marks and neither of us were wearing gloves.
  5. I think theres an old thread about them, about items not turning up. I could be totally mistaken but might be worth a search
  6. Sorry to hear that Chris, you never think of it happening to yourself.
  7. Thanks for all the replies. So basically, the tree owner wanted to know if it was worth trying to find someone to mill it or if we should just ring it up. Happy to say they decided to get it milled and have got a guy coming in a couple of weeks.
  8. Just taken this cedar down, butt is approx 800mm and 5 or y metres in length. Basically I'd just want to know if its worth trying to find someone to mill it, otherwise it's going for firewood. Tree is in rutland
  9. I think a mate has these, are they a green/yellow colour? If it is then I'd go for haix or meindl instead, the inner sole is coming away after only a year and not very waterproof from what he has said.
  10. Not much help, but I think you can put wanted stuff etc on arbtrader
  11. Thanks, all silky and snips for that one. Not for this one though. Had a few limbs snap out onto the house recently, plenty of inonotus throughout. A few bt lines, road, house and oil tank didn't help. After pic was taken a few weeks afterwards as I forgot to take one on the day.
  12. Small ash from a few weeks back. 25-30% crown reduction. No before pic
  13. I'd be happy with that mate, well done
  14. Enjoyed that and the time lapse during the credits was a nice touch
  15. Just wondered if anyone knew of any vids that show the wrench in action whilst moving around the canopy, pref. from climbers perspective. I have had a look on you tube, but most just show ascending setups or edit out the climbing to just show cutting. I'm sure there are some out there, I'm just being lazy
  16. Ha glad I could help, although you would think it should be able to withstand a bit of recoil better then that.
  17. Could you take starter cover off, redo the cord with less turns so it has less recoil. If that makes sense.
  18. That doesn't look good. Why/how did that happen?
  19. I'd agree just splice one end. I only suggested the other end as I figured it would have had less loading on it, so easier to splice?
  20. You could probably get someone to splice the other end as its not that old. A mate of mine did the same thing and he just ties a bowline instead, seems to work ok with a HC.
  21. Thanks jonesie, hadn't thought to check your site. I know where I'll be heading now
  22. Thinking of getting some to put inside my van for occasional quick canopy access. Anybody had experience with them? Or recommend any particular make? I have read some poor reviews about rungs shearing off after first use!

    Sweet chestnut?
  24. 90L Gelert Expedition ones are good and fairly cheap. Keep my harness, spikes, 45m rope, helmet, silky, crabs, cord etc and still room to spare.
