  1. Haha stupid auto correct! Samson!
  2. Thanks for the tips guys, I tried it out with my Samsung velocity and sirius cord on a beech reduction and it was a lot better, lot smoother. I do intend to try a mechanical device in the future but felt like the wrench would be a smoother transition.
  3. Hi, recently got a wrench and pantin and have had it out on a good few trees now, dismantle, pruning etc. Ascending is great, particularly if I can get a good throwline in, but when moving about the canopy it often feels like there's a lot of friction on the device, especially when climbing against the line. I often have to pull the wrench down in order to release slack, is this common/normal? I find it difficult to make small adjustments when releasing slack, the hitch will move but the wrench will often stay put. Currently using pink tachyon with some liros cord (imitation armor prus) in a VT. Hope all that made sense
  4. I'm after some kombi hedge cutters, I may get a polesaw for it later on but for now mainly just for hedges. Is it worth spending the extra for the 130r or will the 28cc (forget the model name) be adequate? Thanks
  5. I got a tenex loop with an ABR ring spliced in for redirects, although they were advertised as antal rings, but it will do same job so all good. Just thought the branded x rings seemed to have disappeared.
  6. I can't see the x rings listed on treestuff anymore, just chrome ABR ones, which is what Honeybros just sent me as well.
  7. Self employed groundsman needed grimsby area for at least a couple of days a week possibly more. Would even suit someone looking to gain some hands on experience. Contact Ross Jones on 07534349634 or PM me on here.
  8. Yeah that's what I thought, the petzl ones look a lot more comfy. Wonder if they could be retro fitted to the motion.
  9. Has anyone used these? Are they any good? I find my harness slips a bit to one side, particularly if it's got a big saw on it. Cheers
  10. Chainsawbars.co.uk do custom chains
  11. Will the RR be made available in the UK? I know it can be shipped over from treestuff, just curious if it was making its way over here.
  12. Some nice pics. Out of interest, why did you speed line it?
  13. Don't envy you there mate.
  14. Bit expensive. Mate down the pub will do it for a pack of lamberts.
  15. Thought they had beefed the spring up a bit?
  16. Nice vid, my elbows were hurting watching the first bit! Fair bit of timber, customer keeping it all?
  17. Had both, prefer the fimbl. The rope is stiffer, has sirius cord running through it, and wider so will grip on a stem better when descending on a straight pole.
  18. I've not used a tirfor, but I would definitely want to try out some others before buying an ace
  19. We've got one. Used it a few times and it did the job, but found it really difficult to release the cable to pull slack through by hand.
  20. Alright chaps, I'm moving back to the area in February after a couple of years subbing down south. I'm just looking for a few days here an there to fill in the gaps. 5 years experience and all the usual trimmings, tickets upto 41, saws and climbing kit. Good eye for a reduction and rigging techniques. PM or 07960831830
  21. Ah fair enough, well even if you don't like it they often go for silly money on the bay.
  22. Not too late to change? Not tried a 251 but the 261 we have at the yard is a cracking saw, although some have mentioned problems with the bearings or some such.
  23. Why not a 261?
  24. Where's the fun in that!
  25. Any of the big retailers taking orders between now and new year, or do we need to wait til Jan? Need to order something shiny!
