  1. That looks pretty dam good, very tidy welding. Nice job. Is that a ploughmaster in your profile picture? You wouldn't have anymore pictures to add tot his thread per chance: http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/picture-forum/10361-show-your-tractors.html, that would be cool. cheers.
  2. The TR70 has a list price of £3150 + vat according to a leaflet I got from them at a show recently.
  3. Anyone seen these bad boys before Kommunaal - About kommunaal - Vredo Dodewaard B.V. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5M8J-eZOs0]Vredo HS Highspeed Kommunal - YouTube[/ame]
  4. The house on the other side of the gob looked close by, can't quite tell how the tree is weighted from the video, but looks pretty 50:50 - ballsy all the same (fair play), I've seen the pictures of big beech fells you've posted in the past, you are obviously an experienced feller. Did you have a pull rope on her?

    ms 460

Thanks for all the replies lads, yeah that was helpful. My local saw shop has an old stock 460 in the back apparently. Most run and get it soon then.

Keen to up grade from my biggest saw, which is currently a 261. Was thinking for the money i'm gonna spend why not forget the 60cc range, and just bite the bullet and hit the 400 stihl series. The price between the 441 and the 460 is small, thus surely more advantageous to buy the 460 over the 441, right?
  7. Never seen a 390 like that before, interesting looking modifications. cheers for posting.
  8. Cool thanks man.
  9. Where abouts in N.Ireland is he based Jim?
  10. Looking forward to the video action Ben. Keen to see how it deals with all your bendy hedge material as well.
  11. Love the log table design, the hydraulic pusher plate eliminates all aspects of manual handling now. Smart engineering.
  12. Visited my mate this afternoon, it was like autumn in his estate, all the leaves falling off the trees out front. Hasn't rained in 16 days here, and has been the longest sustained hot spell i can remember with 25-30 degrees heat everyday for the last 2 weeks and not a drop pf rain. Given this is a new(ish) estate, chances are that there is probably about a foot of top soil and a 3 feet of compacted rubble under that where these trees have been planted. Wonder if a few buckets of water would help? btw - are these young lime tree's (forgive my ignorance)?
  13. I'd say about 400kg for a loose cube of seasoned hardwood.

Must Watch: Drew Bezanson Returns to Joyride 150 - Video | Red Bull Bike This guy is pretty clever Thought I was great doing bar spins off kerbs in 2003 haha.
  15. Nice improvisionation Marcus, Wouldn't fancy that fecker in the kneecap. I like the yard setup, very ergonomic - winch to splitter, billet to rack, grab to stack. Enjoyable work.
  16. Splitting rounds - it will probably do any diameter you want with seasoned stuff, i.e as much as you can lift and as much as the table top you opt for will comfortably fit on board. (Ive done up to 1m diameter stuff no problems seasoned and unseasoned). Billet wise (1.2m lengths) Ive done stuff up to about 0.6-0.7m diameter seasoned. Im pretty confident it would go bigger on seasoned stuff. In the picture we were splitting fresh spruce billets (1m lengths) and we maxed out on this butt, blade just didnt have the reach to smash the core open a little more, and thus kept getting stuck in the cut, which called for lots of sledgehammering of the butt to release the blade. (In the end we just ringed it up into 4 parts and split it like that). There is a 60 degree wedge you can get as an add on that fits over the standard 'magik' blade. that probably would have helped, also - if the spruce had of been somewhat seasoned, Im pretty sure it would have cracked open no problems.
  17. Nice one Beau, You won't regret getting the magik if you go for her. Awesome machine.
  18. Tidy little set up
  19. The year I was born haha. Great tool to have in the arsenal Marcus.
  20. haha 'wee log' you calling me a girl!! No I like the old sappie, saves lots of hardship dragging and gripping etc. Bit slower alright, but saves time in the long run for me. Magik works well until the guides get all sapped up from soft woods, then it can annoying - otherwise a very safe and easy system to use. No the first vid was the very first go with the machine when I bought it in late 2011. There was a pile of 'impossibles' or 'pigs' in the back of shed left there for years, after various attempts with mauls and sledges. Easy shearing hey.
  21. Man, they have some serious trunks on them? Was it caused by forest fire? Enjoyed the rope swing video from this spot you posted before.
  22. Excellent, properly back in action now.
  23. Sounds like a sweet deal to me. Free raw material, a a yard you can use, a customer base that you don't have to go looking for. Not sure if you can use your bosses chainsaws as well, if so even better. Do you have access to a log splitter?, if not a season on the axe will get you a decent investment for the future, and your outputs will increase for the following season, with less effort. A small 6x4 car trailer with greedy boards will carry a m3 of firewood no problem. Pending on where you live, and what type of wood your selling - you might stand to make 50 or 60 quid profit after expenses. If you work with this dude, you could spend a little more time on site prepping up the arb waste before it comes back to the yard, perhaps even have alot of it blocked up ready for splitting. You could easily have a cube split and delivered locally in under 2 hours. Happy logging.
  24. Few video's here woodworks documenting the thor magik log splitter I have. It runs off an old mf 35 pto mostly at tick over. Very light on diesel, and great turn around ram speeds. The knife/blade on the end of the ram is reasonably large as well. I use it mostly for billets, but I welded up a very basic table for blocks. Expensive, but this will last me forever.
