  1. Probably obvious, but I would make fire pile with all the dead stuff get it ripping then start putting green on, more efficient less smoke
  2. yes mate, can buy or make a plate that fits to side for stack pipe, google bell tent should be some pics. get one you wont regret it,can put em up in 10 mins
  3. we bought a bell tent last year, brilliant, got divider with it so kids have own room, can roll sides up,really airy, was £550 but will last forever,
  4. he sounds like a good bloke, nice one
  5. yep. on my own jobs im quite happy running at £300 a day with one other (no chipper/removal of arisings), I think as a freelancer you have to have your own stuff comin in to get that little bit of profit to re invest in kit, otherwise id be rolling with a Mc Culloch and a length of bailer twine
  6. IMO its impossible to survive as a subby/freelancer either groundie or climber on less than £90 a day, personally £120 is the minimum i can get by on,but it seems to be a bit of a glass ceiling in the south west. But its tolerable when you have a good relationship with the people your workin for,one lends me tracked chipper whenever i need it,so it can all balance out !!
  7. not getting into an argument Huck? you feeling ok?
  8. yes, mate has one, whats ya number will get him to give you a bell
  9. cheers all, really have to catch up on my fungi!!!!
  10. yes, called out to evercreech today, report of tree down, got there it was a Laurel branch about as thick as my wrist! 4hrs in total,2 mins work!
  11. was dead on front side ie above knackered butresses
  12. yes mate, they are bottom of butresses, not sure about colouring of fungus, was aright old mess, but butresses had turned to grey slime, which was nice
  13. IMO if your a subby/freelance you ve gotta be nuts not to have personal insurance, mine costs about £20 a month, but peace of mind is priceless
  14. yeah if i was at fault i wouldnt consider claimin off them, think i misunderstood your post
  15. Thats fair enough, but if some one dropped a tree on you on their job and did some serious damage surley its not unreasonable to claim on their EL?
  16. Rupe will sort this one out,but if you come on for someone as a freelancer working under their direction then you are classed as an employee for insurance purposes.I think!
  17. reckon huck will be after a set of them an all!
  18. yep, took it down with telehandler with man cage, could grab top of limbs and waggle whole tree in the ground, which was disconcerting! did back cut and pushed with machine and it just tore out of the ground, roots had turned to gloop!
  19. had to take this down today, ,initial thought was Ionotus but now goin with Ganoderma, am i right? ta
  20. tis lookin a bit white on the forecast!! but if not tommorow hopefully sat or sun, cheers brother!
