  1. I guess so, and he’s putting a roof over peoples heads FOC at the same time.
  2. Yeah, there are places around that stand empty for years, some folk must have more money than sense. I know a bunch of folk that squat an empty mansion in Kent. Why doesn’t the owner sell it or convert it into flats?
  3. Social housing or nothing then, I can’t see it happening mind.
  4. Big cities like Manchester it works because there are well paid jobs available, small cities like Stoke-on-Trent less so, so it doesn’t get redeveloped, face it, who wants to live in one of the most deprived cities in the country? As for building four/5 bed pitches in the countryside, what good is that to the youngsters of today?
  5. And to think, less than 7% of the UK is built on, that aside, I go into Stoke occasionally, the amount of redundant factory’s that stand empty and could be repurposed is criminal, but no one is going to do it.
  6. Getting lucky? Nearly 16 years. Did the peeps you know stretch themselves in every day jobs to get there? Did they have sleepless nights thinking about it? Mick your name rhymes with what you are.
  7. Good for you.
  8. If it was local to me I’d take the lot at £70/m3 hoping to do £120/30 delivered.

    Cabstar

Brilliant at carrying the weight, beat transits hands down, slip and slide if they even see a banana skin, cosy if you like being close to your work pal. Mega reliable, would I have another one? Depends what I needed it to do, there are better trucks.
  10. Some have had it easy, mum and dad had money and machines, contacts to help them on their way, some didn’t, they started with nothing and built up on their own with nothing more than a regular job, saved their money and set out on their own. I’m the later but at 53 I’m shattered, I’ve made my dough but It’s made a happy man very old. Tell us your story. Im sure I started a thread about this years ago but I couldn’t find it.
  11. Yep, it gets dosed with polymer as an anti foam, still awful, just got to vent it off best you can to get rid of the stench. Way to get money, hey!
  12. It’s been proper foggy the last couple of days, it’s absolutely pouring down the road i usually use is unpasssable unless in a truck. Some fool in a car went for it earlier, they failed miserably.
  13. Yep I’d crawl over broken glass to get to her.
  14. I looked at a place recently with plans to move on there (caravan on the quiet) the worked involved was huge, enough to put me off, the reward, imo is having a relatively small bit of ground that’s yours, making money from it would be a bonus.
  15. Where is it, I’ll come drop them and reconnect them if you are local. Don’t tell anyone I’ve said that mind!
  16. I’d imagine it’s not far off, they process dead animals for the fat and meal, the fat goes into soap, washing powder, fairy liquid and the likes the meal goes into animal feed.
  17. yes, those are the aerating basins. Pm on its way.
  18. I’m with ya, but it’s not going to happen, I’ve been down that road before. Gave the bosses daughter some loving, when it went wrong the work dried up, surprisingly!
  19. Anyway, this morning the lass who manages this part of the site, (side note… she’s as fit as a butchers dog) said you look shattered, I didn’t say it but thought i ain’t even got the energy get one over you at the moment.
  20. Correct when more modern vented manhole covers were put in there was less need for vent pipes, as you say there is plenty still left and kept in good order although capped off. I don’t realise they were listed but it makes sense due to the age of them.
  21. Vent pipe off the sewer, lots of them were taken down and sealed off back in the day.
  22. It’s awful, the lorries come through the village and it stinks as they pass. The process is eye watering, the treatment plant is down the bottom, although no pleasant nothing like the factory.
  23. It’s awful, even the office staff shower and change clothes before they leave. I wouldn’t try to dress it up any other way.
  24. Staffordshire Moorlands, just outside Stoke/Leek, it’s a god awful place that stinks to high even, but I can pay someone decent money and we get a takeaway in at night that I’ll pay for, work days sort your own food. Clean set up for when they leave, shower block, washing machines all in work time. Ideally someone who can be left alone with a bag of spanners, the rest I’ll show them,
