  1. Last digs job I was on was Epsom Racecourse, B&B with evening meal, we couldn't get the breakfast because we were away to early, but the lass who owned the place did us a pack-up. We didn't get a penny extra to stay out, we did get the scrap though, more than made up for it.
  2. What's going on with the search thingy, Bullman? It's not working here.
  3. What about staying away from your wife and kids, eating out of take aways, or pubs, £20/night would compensate for that? Get a grip Les.
  4. Exactly what I did back in the day.
  5. @spudulike this is what happened.
  6. Not sure, in 97 I started for a company in Northampton, they were paying £18 a night, I was going up in the world then...
  7. In the 90's nights out were £15 on top of digs money.
  8. What have I told you about changing stuff!?
  9. Yep, direct debit monthly. It's still a first for me. Mustn't grumble really, money in the bank and no poxy cheque to photograph to send to the online thingy.
  10. Can you not shout over to the West Wing and ask Mrs P....
  11. Now we've established its not called road tax has anyone else had a refund into their bank recently?
  12. I guess that's why they call it VED, no one claim it was road tax...
  13. When I've ever had a refund for road tax it's been a cheque in the post, anyhow, I sold a van last month, today I've had a refund paid into my bank from DVLA. According to the Gov website cheque is still how refunds are made. Anyone else had this?
  14. The fact that your old boss took the radios out of the vans is a classic, and a sign to move on.
  15. What's that machine doing in Suffolk? Don't say lifting logs.
  16. Scotland has also, some of the French Aires I've parked on are not only cheap, some even free are second to none. Most of Europe are way ahead of the UK, they welcome people spending in the local economy.
  17. Tonight I arranged to park up with a mate of mine who a haven't seen for a while, plan was, park up in the carpark of the heritage railway go to the local pub for some food and a few beers then back to the vans and move on in the morning, get there and there's three motorhomes parked in the carpark with the residents (read fecking idiots) blasting out music, luckily my friend is a regular at the pub so we've parked on their carpark, are these people wired up properly? They'll no doubt be on social media tomorrow saying how unfair it is we are always getting moved on. Ranting and dumbfounded.
  18. First night this year the temperature has risen after sunset, global warming, or...
  19. Sneaked one over me again! I understand mate, I do like to repair, reuse, but it becomes uneconomical at times.
  20. I was jesting, it makes no sense to have a new sole put on, and the other bits, gluing, stitching done, by time they are done I'll be a oner+ light, I can have a box fresh pair for £160.
  21. OK, I'll get some new boots then.
  22. Best part of a oner! Brand spanking new pair for £160, how's that work? So the leather upper is less than the sole? Explain that to Mr...
  23. Feck my old boots! I've got an excellent pair of hiking boots that are 5+ years old, they need resoling, but not at a cost of £75, am I that far out of touch?
