  1. Or do they think i have? I need some work signed off, which I fully understand some trades aren't happy to do, so I expect it to cost a premium, it goes a bit like this. Inspect and sign this off bud? Yep, £350 (Although way overpriced) I go with.it. I'll be there Monday, but you'll have to send me the dollar over now.. Never dealt with the fella before. Either I'm going mad or...
  2. Worked for me for years.
  3. Bolam, he's usually on the ground telling everyone else where they are going wrong...
  4. Some do, rainwater harvesting for those very things make perfect sense, if they fail the mains water kicks in. Remind me why all new builds don’t have solar panels fitted? It's almost like successive government's don’t want us to have green energy!
  5. Any way, my water authority pension kicks in next April. Not sure if I'm pleased about that or not.
  6. Best recycling industry going, treat a natural resource, sell it to us then charge us to treat it again then sell it back to us.
  7. Although I agree, how much would it cost? It's been raped, I don't mean just asset stripped, it's been abused for profit. The infrastructure/network is shot, anyone who works in the water industry will tell you the same.
  8. Just read it elsewhere, not my thing but a legend of rock. To be fair he did well to make his mid 70's considering the abuse he gave himself over the years. RIP.
  9. Brilliant, just spat me beer out!
  10. Try to hear this through. Rudyard Lake at 'unprecedented' low level after dry spring - BBC News WWW.BBC.CO.UK The reservoir falls to about 30% of its capacity following one of the driest springs on record.
  11. Well done, you can use Google, top of the class for you. Try digging a bit deeper, 40% of Staffordshires water is pumped from underground.
  12. I'll chuck a few shillings in bud, never used Andy's myself but a life long friend of mine used it to good affect for a while. Unfortunately life got to much for him and he did the same thing as your mate during covid, when the service/group wasn't available.
  13. At the moment you'd be hard pressed to get a rowing boat on the local reservoirs in the very area you talk of, never mind the QE2.
  14. Hmm, 40% of the water that feeds the Staffordshire Moorlands doesn't come from rivers, it comes from natural underground sources.
  15. If I'm reading you correctly, they could be dredged and the silt could be spread on local farmland? No doubt at a cost.
  16. I don't know the answer, but couldn't they tip it at the same place CaRT tip the waste from their dredging?

  21. Overrun was the word i was looking, I'm fairly sure it was you corrected me when I asked about mine doing the same thing years ago, I wrongly called it a backfire.
  22. The problem is, the water companies aren't held to account, unless there's a massive fish kill, or environmental pollution no one is interested.
  23. I have the older 20hp Vanguard on my machine, it does the same thing. Get the carb cleaned and tacho'ed, they really don't like anything close to stale fuel.
  24. Is that to do with the sewer? Sounds more like a pumping station that can't cope with storm conditions.
  25. The sewer probably would cope if it wasn't for infiltration, old sewers take a lot groundwater in, the smallest amount of rainfall and they're overloaded. I worked for MTS for a short while, I was glad to get out.
