  1. No idea, I reckon another bag of coal would have finished it...
  2. No bud, he posted a picture later in the day when he'd got some of the load off, it was sitting alot higher in the water.
  3. To right, loaded to the gunwales doesn't come into it.
  4. No need, order using the touch screen in the pod and drinks are delivered to the table.
  5. Novelty value, and for the sake of a quid why not.
  6. Let's hope his bilge pumps don't fail!
  7. Rudyard*
  8. These pods are outside The Ridyard Hotel, (think Kipling), they.are heated with WiFi, £1 for.2 hours during January, seat six, I'm having ago of one of these this week.
  9. Probably doesn't count being a boat, fuel boat Emu-Lion on the river Lea outside Bishop Storford, he's a better.man than me.
  10. My go to cheese shop, you can order online but visiting gives me a chance to sample before I buy. Buy Cheese Online | Hartington Cheese Shop WWW.HARTINGTONCHEESESHOP.CO.UK Buy cheese online from the Hartington Cheese Shop Ltd. We supply the very best cheese and wine from local...

    Cheese

Anyone else a cheese addict, a gentleman's rum and brandy to sip while sampling this lot will do well.
  13. All in one diesel heater outside the building, buy/make a box to keep the weather off, core drill two holes into the building, one for air/heat in the other for.air intake, job done. Recycle the warm air equals less fuel, step down unit from 220-240v to 12v s about £30, no need for battery or charger, only downside is if there is a power cut the heater won't go through it's cool down process and could melt the motherboard, chances are slim of it happening and a cheap fix if it did.
  14. Still on Radio 4 daily at 00.48 and 05.20.
  15. I guess the wages were good due to the responsibility involved, get it wrong, send a train on the wrong track, even worse cause a derailment?
  16. Just looked, Shippea Hill was automated in 2012, the bloke I'm talking about took over from his father, he'd worked the box with his dad all his life. I was shocked when he told me back then that he.was earning around £50k/year.
  17. Not sure.when it was automated but there was still a signalman at Shippea Hill on the Breckland line (the fens) when I worked for.Anglian Water 1999-2010, I always stopped for a brew with him if I was out that way, iirc there was one train a day.Mon-Fri and 2.on.Saturdays.
  18. Yep very interesting, and somehow weirdly relaxing. In the same article there was a section about lighthouse keepers, a job I'd like to have a stint at.
  19. Yep, always had problems with condensation in my narrowboat tank if it wasn't kept full, easier said than done in the winter due to maintenance stoppages on the network, couldn't get to a marina to top up or the fuel boats not being able to get to me.
  20. You can be as right as you like, I care not.
  21. Ermmm, got all my apps sorted, still can't work out how to post pics. More investigation needed
