  1. It says it was their motor - even more impressive.
  2. Exactly my point. Glad they are OK And hope the mog isn't too badly damaged.
  3. Theres a short poem that sums that up... All the gear but no idea.
  4. It may, of course, be somone on here! Come on, own up.
  5. Ever had that feeling you should have used a different photo?
  6. I have been checking out a few options for the removal of the remainder of a root plate. Photo attached. It's about 6ft across and about a quarter of the roots are still attached. Access is fine, it's at the end of a car park. My thoughts were - Strong hiab - local drivers not interested if its still connected in any way. Dig out with small excavator - local companies wand many hundreds with min. 1 day hire plus delivery collection, then £80 for hiab lift/removal then £50 upwards at local dump. Mattock off as much crap as poss and spend hours with 25hp pedestrian stumpy (my little predartor). A very hard day but maybe the only option? Any suggestions welcome - One of my guys did suggest putting a floorless shed over it The trunk has been sawn off about 3 inches above the soil level.
  7. In my distant past as an IT specialist the companies used to estimate 50% on costs to employ someone. They could therefore pay contractors 40-50% more than employees AND have the advantage of cost-free culling when things got bad.
  8. We did an emergency clear up on a fallen blue atlas cedar on Saturday. It was in Worthing town centre in the vet's car park. They said they wanted all the timber so we piled it up for them (round the back of the practice, out of sight of the road). I got a plaintif phone call from them this morning asking if I had removed any. 'No' said, 'has some of it gone?' 'Some?' she replied 'all of it!' I attach a piccy of the pile, a few boot fulls there I recon.:lol:
  9. Well done to the Bullmans (or is that Bullmen) Great work Jodi - Don't worry, Steve is always picking on us lot for bad speeling. I suspect that took many hours to set up and run - great work for a great cause.
  10. Tells me the account is suspended, now I'm in suspense. Just have to wait I guess
  11. I warned them not to play where we were working but did they listen?
  12. Disaster today.... We killed Kenny
  13. Spot on - no nasty surprise either way. You could leave yourself open for the 'I would never have agreed to that if you had said that up front' brigade, and they are often the ones with the expensive houses. Regardless of alcohol issues - have a formula and be confident about it - ie £150 to turn up and TAKE RESPONSIBILITY plus £40 per hour/part hour. You should be able to estimate the clean-up time so no probs. If the customer is not happy, they can call out someone else. As for using the job as a loss leader, If I found a tradesman doing that I'd use him once (cheaply) then next time find someone else who would treat the job as a loss leader. Be confident! (and sober- which you may have been anyway - I don't know so not getting involved in that one.
  14. Are the Gormley sculptures still there in the sea?
  15. I think it's to do with the first 19 tickets not counting, hence Steve suggesting.. oh what the hell let's just buy some more.
  16. By my crappy maths no 1419 will be the bell ringer for 7k and if we are to meet Steve's new target then it's no 1619? I think.....
  17. If the bearings were replaced that long ago I'd leave it loose ready for the next bearing change (Don't shout at me it was a TW tecchie at their HQ who told me they should be replaced every 200 hours) Mods - if you think this is too provocative a comment please delete it.
  18. Rain, rain, rain - I'll post when it doesn't rain.
  19. I got up to 1303, so thats 1284 x5 = 6,420 I think
  20. I only got an order ref just now - no visible ticket numbers so unable to do any maths. we gotta be thereabouts by now... No reason not to raise more - and maybe win some lovely prizes into the bargain
  21. Its the new NHS mechanical heart replacement
  22. I've got some of the blades left, just lacking the imagination. I saw a 6ft crocodile made out of discarded chainsaw chains and saw blades. If only I had the patence and skill....
