  1. I've been collecting these wherever I can too, just not managed any roofs yet. If your not stacking them just turn them on the side, saves your saw.
  2. I lurk allot, F365,Planet F1,fishing magic and just discovered the bodgers one on woodworking which may or not come of use in the future. Like I said though not allot of posting.
  3. Thanks I'll try them Monday . Any one got another suggestion they seem pretty hard to come by. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I have been asked to quote for four of the above, two males and two females, our usual supplier and one other large supplier came up with not alot. Any one got any suggestions Cheers.
  5. Not knowing the area its hard to properly judge but if there's three of you running business's from home getting up at 7am 5 days a week and starting all your big diesel engines I'd get the hump too. Sorry
  6. Surely the stuff that falls out when you stick a brush up is different to the sticky creosote that builds upon the glass when you shut the fire down too early? I don't see how brushing alone can clear this build up as the easiest way to clear the glass is to burn it off rather than manually wipe it off, running a brush up and down it might leave a couple of scratches if you're lucky. So with a badly managed stove does the build up of creosote stay in the flue after sweeping?
  7. Didn't one of the kiwi posters put up pics of a large oak that went over some years after having the roots buried Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It's a bit like getting a plumber in to work in your bathroom and leaving a big turd in the pan Some dog owners just think nothing of it and these will be the ones that leave it in the local alleyways and parks too Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Me too Def so if there's a horrible sticky fat bud at the end of the twig Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Decades of ecological value then, little nooks and crannies where the sapwood decays:001_tt2:
  11. Your best approach may be to email local tree surgeons, let them know your situation and let them drop some off for a drink, you never know they may be doing a job locally and need to unload quickly to get it done in time.
  12. I can see why someone would get upset at the waste, but surely if its valuable enough to get upset about it there must still be enough timber there to make it worth having. Any way I expect the guy puts the ecological value of the high stump rotting away for years way above any monetary value
  13. How much value will have been lost by felling high ? I'm sure I've seen brownoaks pics before especially the last one of the fella sitting on the log, they been on here before ?
  14. Some tree surgery companies don't do firewood and are pleased to let people take logs from site as long as they keep out the way or even drop loads locally for a drink.

I just used to go round it, you don't really want to spread it with feet or mower. What I tend to do now if in a pooey garden is put a plant pot over them or if they're the kind of annoying people that throw their pots away instead of chucking them behind the shed use a few sticks as markers.
  16. I'm rubbish at conifers but tsuga heteropylla ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Must be very fragrant when they land on the stove Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Makes sense, though I'm surprised it can go up by as much as 10%, guess I'll have to build a bigger store down the bottom of the garden. Ta Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Surely the humidity in the garage should be the same as outside though, admittedly the garage can get a tad damp but the store outside isnt the best and is tucked away between the house and garage with two solid walls.
  20. Yew about 5 years old because I'm not bored yet .. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Robinia, olive and a bit of green cherry to prove something. . . . Guess ill just keep it all outside. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. To add to that thought I'd check a bit of ash stored as cord for one summer then split and stored under cover for one summer. . Must have been raining in my garage Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. I took this cypress down about 3 years ago and it was dead standing, it was rung up and stored undercover outside for one winter since then its been in my garage kept for kindling off the floor Admit ably Surrey suburbia isn't the draughtiest place in the world but how am I going to get it dry. I have checked the moisture meter against another one and theres 1% in it . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Yep I had a large standing dead oak, sapwood you could pick off but the heartwood still ringing wet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
