  1. well said
  2. i understand that it is difficult to discuss Richard Dawkins without discussing theology. but to avoid people getting heated, lets look at it from a different angle: Does Richard Dawkins give atheism/ atheists a bad name? Is he a good "poster boy" for evolutionary science?
  3. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2FARDDcdFaQ]YouTube - Bill O'Reilly SCARED by Richard Dawkins[/ame]
  4. i agree, he is a clever guy but he goes about his work in the wrong way (in my opinion) i know atheists who are repulsed by Dawkins. But who can resist a good debate?
  5. some great pics there mate:thumbup1: what species of owl is that?
  6. 8. thats me put in my place too mate! cheers for the id Monkey D! (although the colouring in Phillips Mushrooms is way off, and Jordans doesnt even list it! )
  9. Thats why i was unsure, it was on a young rowan if i remember rightly (there are several scattered round the area). it's the closest match i could find in my ID books. what do you think?
  10. hahahahaha my reputation is in ruins!
  11. hahah disclaimer in order i think- the earthball i pictured a day or two ago, and walked past the site today and saw it had been kicked over/ tramped on, so i took the remains home for a pic... the russula was one of several in the area.... and the fistulina, i simply touched it to feel its texture and it fell off the tree. seriously! so of course i took it home for a pic haha. believe it or not i am very conservative in my picking of fungi!
  12. also found these little fellas in the same wood the other day, i think they might be a Coprinus species but im not sure. they were tiny little things.
  13. possibly Fistulina hepatica- beefsteak fungus? a first for me if it is!
  14. The only shot i could get of this Laepiporus sulphureus bracket before the batteries died... not happy! (and a closeup of a piece i brought home)
  15. forgot this one...
  16. Russula heterophlla...? im pretty sure this is a Russula?
  17. Went for a walk in Kepier Woods in Durham today, and found some interesting fungi, including a couple of firsts for me! About an hour into my expedition my camera batteries died- cue much frustration as i found the most photogenic Laeteporus and a couple of other interesting things but was unable to record them. moral of the story- always carry spare batteries! for my first trick, allow me to introduce what i believe to be Scleroderma citrinum- the common earthball. this is the closest id- match i could get from my ID books so please correct me if i'm wrong! (i think its either that or a puffball spp)
  18. i love this thread, i bet your lads know more about trees than some "tree surgeons"!
  19. i dream of owning my own wood. ideally my dream house would be in the wood, too
