  1. you hit the nail on the head there rich. seems the harder you work the less you get paid. Thanks for the replies so far and the PM's. There are some absolutely shocking hourly rates out there. Some are damn right illegal!!

  4. Hi all, I'm doing a bit of research into how much people in our industry get paid per hour as the company i work for i believe are not up to scratch in certain areas. evryone at our place is paid different and there seems to be no continuity or fairness. some of the young lads for example are paid just short of £9 per hour whereas the more " experienced are paid £11.50. so any way id be interested to know the pay in the following areas. Groundsman only? inexperienced climber experienced climber team leader i know this can be a complicated area with people with different quals etc, but lets assume everyone is cs30,31,38,39, and team leaders also have 32,41 i know pay can be a sensitive subject with people and your boss may be watching too, so if you would prefer to pm then do so. your results will remain confidential. i will publish the results wonce i collated all the info. could you also add what county your from too. Many thanks in advance Dave
  5. its maximum authorised mass simples. go on dvla website its very clear. my mate was caught the other week by the police for the exact same thing. if the trailer is rated at 2.7t then you cant tow it. if you are ever unsure ring the dvla they are very helpful for a government department

  8. the company i work for just outside bournemouth is looking for a climber, but must be able to drive 7.5t
  9. Hi all one of our drivers was stopped yesterday by the police and his licence checked. he was driving a 7.5t with timberwolf 190 chipper on the back. He has c1e on his licence through grandfather rights i.e he passed his test before 1997. he was informed by the police that he wasnt legal to tow the chipper as he was over 8250kg. All c1e licences earned through grandfather rights carry the restriction code 107 on the licence. in simple terms this means the maximum authorised mass he can drive is 8250kg. the truck weighed 7.4t and chipper 1t so he was over. luckily the police let him off but they impounded the vehicle and charged £400 to release it plus they are gonna do the company. Im guessing there are alot of people out there driving illegally that have just not checked there licence. just to clarify before the questions start the maximum authorised mass is 8250kg including chipper. this is not what the vehicle weighs but what it would weigh if fully loaded. its amazing how nobody in the company realised this alll our drivers cant drive now its gonna be an absolute nightmare. luckily i have c+e so im ok. apparently dorset police are having a big crackdown on it.
