  1. I prefer the diesel/ kerosene/paraffin all-over-at-the-same-time method. Don't remember seeing it detailed in that Lars Mytting book though.
  2. I wouldn’t really want to put this on either leg…. But if I had to choose, I would be drawn towards putting it on my left leg.
  3. Is the padding over your calf? I assumed it was more conventional to have the padding over your shin.
  4. Be not ashamed… These legends were scribed long before new bloods such as yourself breezed in.
  5. 🙏🏻 No. It is a quest you should undertake for yourself 🙏🏻 TBH they should show up easily enough in the search function ( except maybe the wood chipper one- I think that one’s title was something to do with Lazy Staff’). There was also a classic that debated whether tree cutters were superior to grass cutters as well…. That went on a bit.
  6. John, regardless of whether the above is the ‘law’ (is it a quote from legislation, of a quote from some random website?)…. …. it does not mean this. Possibly, this is just your interpretation of what you wish it should mean.
  7. Thank Mark, it backs up my limited experience. Turns out this was all very useful.
  8. This in nuffin. You should check out the running- from-the-chipper and codwood threads, and read the bangtidy debacles.
  9. Oh, and and for what’s it’s worth, the delivery was fine.
  10. When I recently ‘accidentally’ purchased an item from Skylands that they had sold on their website in error, Mark emailed me, and later called me in person to discuss the ins and outs of the issue. You couldn’t have asked for a more polite, constructive and reasonable person. It was easy to come to a solution that suited us both. Mark acted as if his priority was to see the customer right, which was impressive as it was my first ever transaction with them. No rushing, no pressure. Based on this limited experience, I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again.

Can’t see it working myself…. Drain rods can be awful flexible, so you are never going to push many up a tree before they start coming down again. I guess you could try to weave them over suitable branches on the way up…. Possibly. I tried with a couple of sets of utility insulated rods before, but many dreys can be deceptively high up trees!

I’m with Mick. I’d be more likely to buy for £800 and struggle to sell for £450 if previous performance is anything to go by.
  14. Yeah, I think many modern probably are really that dangerous to fiddle with. There seem to be plenty of stories of batteries in scooters, hoverboards, phones or Boeing Dreamliners combusting because of poor design, poor construction, poor QC, bad chargers, overcharging, shorting or physical damage. The fires generally go from nothing to proper white hot inferno in moments, are near impossible to put out, and are accompanied by horrific fumes. As said, water only seems to encourage them. I love ‘em, but at over £200 a shot, I have every intention of keeping my Husqvarna batteries un-combusted.
  15. I thought it seemed good value to. I also thought it interesting that your guy is competent and and equipped to do all the dead wooding, top trimming, air spading, mulching and super-tree-composting, yet his initial thought was towards felling. I guess either his order book is pretty full, or the tree is a lot more dead looking in real life than it is in the photos. Anyway, the tree’s got two chances… Good luck!
  16. @adw Thanks, and yes, I would pretty much have assumed as much. There must be tens of thousands of those types of Husqvarna battery out there now, so I assume that the demand for aftermarket non-oem battery parts will only grow over time. I guess China will step into the breach at some point, with all the wide variety of QC issues that that entails…. Shame it’s not a nice little engineering company from the Midlands.
  17. It’s certainly well protected and looking good in the quarry environment. I once did a lot of work in the Cornish china clay quarrys, but their environmental team took exception to the many oil seeps from under my 90, and they surrounded it with spill kits and told me not to bring it back. Is the cage arrangement on the bonnet fixed or just sitting there?
  18. I’ll be sure to avoid jabbing it with a logpick then. When I poked a hole in my daughters old iPhone battery it left a very nasty scorch in the chopping block. Definitely not one to be tried indoors!
  19. @openspaceman do you reckon this approach would also work for busted bli200x batteries?
  20. It’s only a shame that Husqvarna see fit to build their batteries out of something akin to fine Swedish crystal. Maybe if they chose materials that weren’t so fundamentally brittle, customers wouldn’t feel the need to open ‘em!
  21. @adw just for research purposes*, how much would you guys charge to undo 4 standard screws, switch a cracked bli200x cover for an uncracked one, and screw it all back together? *asking for a friend
  22. Oh, them. Yes…. I’m not totally convinced that they aren’t playing for effect!
  23. The OP seems quite happy with his existing installation IMO.
  24. Do you think? Maybe I should wait till winter to change it…. At least the family will be warmed by my smouldering remains.
  25. I assumed that there would be that kind of sentiment from Husqvarna- hence the lack of battery parts thus far… As luck would have it, I don’t remember ever entering into any agreement with Husqvarna or it’s dealers about not opening batteries, so that’s all good.
