  1. Not even when you pop your eyeglass in?
  2. Do you have a patio heater? If not, stick a length of vitreous enamel flue, load it up with hazel, and enjoy the great outdoors as the summer evenings draw in. Not only will the paint cure, but it will not owe you anything should the chimney installation become too onerous. 🧐
  3. I must confess, I’m not certain I’ve ever installed anything quite along those lines before.
  4. …. And then just keep whichever are the best stems from all the regrowth.
  5. It’s willow, so I would do at least this….
  6. I thought that building control signed them off if the installation met the requirements of part J of the building regs? I had them signed off before no problem, but it was a while back. Maybe ecodesign stoves are incorporated building regs now? (I have also had stoves HETAS installed, and the installers have incorporated some ‘engineering solutions’ that I would never have considered). When I was a younger man, I did ‘install’ an aga into the fireplace of a house I was renting…… the landlady went proper apesh’t,….. possibly with good reason.
  7. Ordered, and for little more than a can of Aspen!
  8. Thanks Dan It’s including keypad AND screws…. Bargain!
  9. Ahhhh, Dan, if you could dredge up who it was, that would be brilliant. I assumed I would have to wait until someone like Farmertec would start producing rip-off ones.
  10. If you stick one of these bags in a boiling flask first thing in the morning, you get a hot, smoky tasting, tannin- free cuppa throughout the day, no milk necessary (can’t do without milk in most hot drinks). The drawback is you can’t let on to anyone what you’re drinking, lest they think you a pretentious prick.
  11. This. Aeropress is possibly not as fast as instant coffee, but it’s not far off. Instant coffee is an outrage to humanity.
  12. Anyway, to answer you actual question, I have had a T540i for over 2 years, and a 540i for over a year, both on oem pitch chains, using bli300 and bli200x batteries, and I have found they haven’t needed any sort of attention at all so far. the only issues I’ve noticed are.. >the bli200 battery sometimes comes half a click out of the topper, resulting in no electrical contact being made, but thats no biggie once you’ve noticed. >the batteries front panels are a bit prone to cracking.
  13. I take it you checked that the motor turned easily by hand whilst you were in the “checking obvious things” stage?
  14. Chicken. I’ve seen Ivy do it.
  15. My Mother had a goat called ivy. Although the goat ate many bits of trees, it never ate a whole one, so it is relevant.
  16. Hope you mend quick. Never mind the pain or long recovery, it is the fear of witnessing A+E that is my motivation to avoid injury, or undertake diy quackery!
  17. A more informative acronym would be for Cut Up, Split and Stacked.
  18. I take it the dual way is only horizontal… do you reckon that having the vertical option is that important? Tbh, the 22t venom seems to be the go-to model for the serious domestic user with a proper log addiction….. Don’t want to blow my wedge on a horizontal only splitter only to be jealous of all them vertical boys.
  19. I thought it was something like that. I struggle to get anything that doesn’t rapidly get modified to meet my particular needs!
  20. Not had a problem personally. The 200x batteries seems to lock in perfectly (although they are a little fragile, alas). The 300 batteries are a little prone to being a bit more fiddly to lock in initially, but as @Mick Dempsey reckoned, you know instantly due to the lack of power! I guess it’s a case of getting the groundy used to inserting the battery and then blipping the saw to confirm it is in properly.
  21. Indeed stubby, I totally agree. As an aside, If I remember correctly, yours is a ‘special’ isn’t it?
  22. However, these ol’ boys have a more reasonable class of logs… ….that seem to indicate that on longer logs, there may be the efficiencies you suggest. Every day’s a school day.
  23. No experience of these spitters, however, this seems painfully slow considering ( or maybe because of some of the piddling little logs) being split….. ******Danger…. Watch this with the sound off!******
