  1. Ideal for weeding, as even a basic motorbike comes with two sets of forks.
  2. Not sure I could get away with walking around in a helmet with ‘zero’ printed on the front. Nearly as bad a cap from Gap.
  3. Must admit, I thought the same!
  4. I would go for option 2… it’s certainly the most conventional, but personally I would remove all of the tiled fire surround, brick up the gaping hole that you expose, and install a suitably sized hearth for your stove to sit on. Personally, I would doubt you would have much luck getting an installer to get it done any time soon, as you have the usual ‘want to have it in before Christmas’ brigade to contend with (as you do every year) combined with the current increase in installs due to the increase in cost of living / heating, and the concerns surrounding power outages this winter. Maybe stove installers will step up their efforts and there will be availability early in 2023 if you are very lucky (or rich)… but maybe not, and you won’t get an installer till spring/summer 2023. If you are capable of such things, you (or a general builder) should be able install it yourself perfectly legally yourself if you go down the ‘build control’ route follow Document J…. Approved Document J - Part J - Combustion appliances and fuel storage systems - Planning Portal WWW.PLANNINGPORTAL.CO.UK Details of Part J (Approved Document J) of the Building Regulations However, even this will take time, as the building control process goes at its own pace, and won’t be rushed. Best of luck!
  5. I expect we will see more and more of this in the future. Although you assume you have a petrol saw, it is clearly identifying as a diesel. Possibly a Lister AC1. The CST will hopefully reveal your saws pronouns.
  6. I wouldn’t worry. It’s become so widespread that even the dictionaries have adopted it. Kids these days!
  7. Regardless… I’d hope he wouldn’t have used the word ‘electrocuted’ in such a slapdash manner.
  8. Oh crap. Now I wish I hadn’t just ordered those 3 Antminers
  9. I probably shouldn’t admit it, but I’m not concerned regarding corded or cordless in the least. Should I be?
  10. The whole world’s a critic. Sorry.
  11. I thought that ‘stove installers’ were one of the professions that price in multiples of thousands.
  12. I suppose someone could construct something like that….. They could even give LOLER inspectors special little purple pins. ….. Just as long as they don’t mis-title them as ‘Surveyors’.
  13. Another +1 for the fibreglass resin for both fuel tank (plastic) and oil reservoir (alloy). I am still using a 200t that I ‘fixed’ in 2009. I think I used the basic ‘plastic padding’ packs that you could pick up at Halfords!
  14. …. or possibly he means 300-500 Watts!
  15. More likely it’s worn off by the myriad of old rusty silky blades / saw chains / crushed Relentless cans that some people seem to collect at the bottom of their climbing bags.
  16. Actually, I think that is a pretty succinct description of the thousands of ‘new landowners’ who have moved to the country over the last 30 years. You can’t tell me that Cornwall hasn’t had it’s share.

    Energy Bills

Alternatively, would you have any idea of which of the ‘power supply companies’ could be nationalised to bring down the international wholesale energy price? I have heard this idea banded about recently, but can’t for the life of me see how it could make any meaningful difference.
  18. Are you felling it because you need firewood, or are you felling it because it’s infected. If it’s just the latter, I would leave it…. It may surprise you.
  19. The opulence. “Dad, what did you do during the cost-of-living-crisis?” ”I ate breakfast, lass. I ate breakfast”.

    Jokes???

    I hope that’s true. whattaguy.
  21. All of this really needs some form of common sense approach from someone like @daltontrees
  22. In the original post, it was stated that it was a wild cherry (I’m guessing, it just ‘grew’, rather than being lovingly planted). Not impossible to imagine that this was just a sucker from the wide ranging root of an even older original tree growing in next doors garden. I reckon this thing is centuries old. No one owns it. It is feral.
  23. Your tree is gone. This is now their tree. Their tree is supporting a root system. The roots of their tree now extends into your garden. Be sure to complain to them if the roots cause you a nuisance.
  24. (especially should you consider god is a horsefly/squirrel/chicken).
