  6. Did you read this thread from the beginning ? This isn't about what I'm using it's about a beginner unsure of tying his first hitches and I was trying to be helpful! Thankyou for your advice but I think I have already tried a few others ! I also think you'll find quite a few people including me that will disagree that the blakes isn't a good hitch !
  7. Yes I agree but for a beginner if you read thread from beginning the prussic is best bet ! Then once comfortable tying for himself can move onto whatever feels right
  8. Not really a job but for me it's tucking the kids in bed at night ! That's the reason I wouldn't go work away from home as no amount of money can beat that !
  9. I have a garrett ace 250 in the box which was a birthday gift used for about an hour , if you want to make me an offer pm me .
  10. Thats great ! Mini Arb in the making
  11. Haha oh it begins with s ! Say no more Had a good day today mate thanks for coming, seriously debating on wether or not to buy myself a lockjack now:biggrin: As for the shotgun mate it was a shame there weren't much about , next time I'll bring the clay trap
  12. Jesus mate that's a bit shocking ! For your instructor say 'it might be the rope ' is not enough of a good enough reason for me ! Is all I can say is stick to a prussic for a bit until you can competently tie the knot for yourself and don't have to rely on someone to check it for you.
  13. Who actually tied the knot that came loose ? You or instructor as I'm bit confused now !!
  14. Mate what are you holding it that 3rd pic ?
  15. If the knot was tied and dressed correctly there's no way it should come loose ! Did your instructor check the knot before he let you climb on it ?
  16. It does sound a bit dodgy I know but i think its the safest I have felt when cutting the tops of hedges approx 4 meters up with a long reach cutter , as long as the ladders tied off to the hedge you could put a harness on and use a short strop if it made you feel safer ( although i have never done this ).
  17. Sideways on !! if its a 4 meter hedge you can sit on top of the apex of the ladder with one leg either side ! I know this sounds a bit dodgy but believe me its far safer than putting a ladder straight up into the hedge as if you lean back your coming off or if you pull the cutter too hard your gonna come off too !
  18. Use it in all weathers and very often as do alot of hedging work and the feet have never come off ! you sure yours is a hailo ?
  19. Ladders direct are quoting £234 for this ladder in 3 section by 12 rungs !! I did do my homework when i bought it about a year ago and screwfix was the cheapest then
