  10. Thanks mate. The winch is a game changer. Its a 60" Stihl bar and the chain is Stihl Ripping chain. Only because its from the Stihl dealer about 10 minutes down the road. On the 87" double end I got the chain from RobD (chainsawbars.co.uk) so not to sure. Sharpen always with the Graneberg From Rob, the precession on the teeth is the key to flat boards. Stickers I buy pine Door stops by the bundle its not the cheep way but the trunks I'm doing warrant the extra expense for the client, or staining from them. Pleasure is all mine thanks James. Blaisey

  14. Thanks Its a sculpture for and exhibition. The kiln works really well dried a load of cubes and this sphere in 6 weeks.
  15. I have made a temporary kiln for drying a few bits out of insulation sheets i had spare. I put a fan heater and a dehumidifier in as I wanted to dry as quick as possible. I want the wood to split and crack. Also the dehumidifier was icing up before I added the heater, hope this helps. Blaisey

  17. Yes I thought prices were high. I got a load of oak and yew early on, it seemed to go up a lot as the lots ran out. Scored a couple of trunks too cheers.
  18. Many thanks for the heads up I scored some great wood. Cheers Blaise
  19. Thanks guys. Im still in the very early stage of experimenting with this idea. The ali was poured from the back of this piece, it was laying on a bed of sand but open at the back so of corse it caught fire straight away. It wasn't the right sort of Ali but it was all I had lying around. It was extruded Ali and you really need cast Ali as it flows better also it was too hot and Liquid for too long. It was really to test the furnace and bake the crucible. I will be doing more and I will post videos to my Youtube channel and website and here. It is solid in there due to the shape on the back of the wood but fair point. The next time I will fully encase the wood in a sand casting box possibly with lost foam not sure yet. Regarding what I'm making at the moment is pretty limited as building a workshop, kiln and shop at my Yard. The furnace goes very high so hope to do brass and bronze soon and cast my own table legs! Thanks again for the positive comments.
