  10. Regarding skin only, never ever use washing up liquid to clean your hands. I'm serious, it seems to strip the skin of natural oil and generally kill off the skin. Cream up.
  11. Hi can anyone point me in the right direction for someone to do a couple of totem poles mushrooms and animals on a park job north herts. Or if anyone is available PM or post. Ta
  12. Fell!
  13. Apart from that Paul did you good day?
  14. All of the above plus clean the oilway in the bar, run the saw with no bar on to check it's pumping through, use Stihl chain.
  15. Possible blocked exhaust, not sure but check it anyhow. Back pressure is critical on two strokes.
  16. Mc Cullock must be one of the safest saws, I've let to see one that the customer can start or has not got the chain on backwards or better still in tichy pieces.
  17. One of the most superfluous things I have ever had the misfortune to do. Anyone out there failed this? Or is this just another money making exercise by the powers that be.
  18. Well said. I think guys should see the wider picture here, there could be a lot of work coming up for some of the smaller firms have that never had a look in before.
  19. There might be a use for it for a first time ever user on a course, to see if he or she can handle a saw doing a top cut, other than that, it would be useless in a professional situation and anyone using it would be laughed off site. Tree officers could be issued with them.
  20. At the risk of half of Arbtalk jumping on me, have you lot not heard of the Minimum Wage. Currently £5.80, a legal reqirement. O.K. Granted, I would like to hear more details from paddygreenways, And if he's reading this: did you not discuss wages before starting a trial? Maybe you were too trusting? Have you pointed out that exploitation of guys wanting work is unethical? let's be more objective to someone's first post before slamming the door by being too quick to come out with the troll handle. Speaking as an employer, I would walk away Paddy, but get paid for what you have done.

    Ditto.
  22. Although I realise the tree would be better removed for you, you would be badly advised to damage it, as this would be criminal damage and quite a serious offence. So resist that thought. Try seeing her and offering to pay or go halves.
  23. It's the easiest thing to pass. Anyone who fails, should'nt be let near any building site, let alone a tree site. Licence to print money and pretty well worthless excercise. The only possible thing to check is make sure you know the all the colour and uses of different fire extinquishers. ie. Red type is water, use it on paper, wood etc. and not on flamable liquids/electric fires. Example of question: What do you do if you see someone working in a dangerous manner? a/ Report the matter to the police, B/ ring the AA, or C/ tell your site Supervisor. 50% of questions are like that.

  25. Now that's funny.
