  1. ...... Clearly if you've never done drop crouching.. Reducing the declining upper crown and shortening some lower limbs. Retaining a tree in this case is a better option than removal. Drop crotching isn't used very often but it had its place.
  2. I decided to drop crotch the crown on this oak. Reduced to clear distance from path and to relieve pressure on stem unions.
  3. A little bit of reshaping. Nothing serious but happy with the result.
  4. If your thinking of going on this trip id say do it!!! I attended the last visit to The Gambia and for me it was amazing. The people were great, wildlife was out of this world. Dan betting Jack price to do something was hysterical. Climbing the Kapoc trees is something i will never ever forget. If you've climbed one you'll know why. Mat and Nod were great at planning and visiting local villages and getting a taxi are a must.
  5. It's all personal choice surely? I own many devices for srt and use them all across the year.
  6. £35 quid a go after darts apparently.
  7. Hahah sadly not on the spot. Made worse each of them are at 1 damage this year. One was quite costly by an ex employee but I followed the law and we went our separate ways.
  8. That's why I've dug a trench in the hope it won't spread out as much. Time will tell. Worst case is I'll take it up and buy some crushed from next door.
  9. I'd of gone mad and just took it on the chin. My kit my responsibility to keep it safe. Although i tallied up the damages recently at my guys have been having a bad run up to Christmas but I've put that down to very long summer hours and very little down time.
  10. Getting the yard ready for winter today and clearing the scrub from the woodland next door ready to burn up. I dug a 6" trench for the woodchip to hopefully stop it spreading out. Then put as much woodchip as possible to fill it up and compact it down.
  11. The main reason I hate working in the cities. Awful access on steep slopes. Luckily this time we were able to "borrow" next doors car park.
  12. Quality set there. Fourth one is awesome. Is that for Darren?
  13. It's a timber dragon that vos used to sell. I got it modified to be road legal as I have to haul a fair bit of timber on the roads. Never going to be a heavy lift hiab but it's king for moving brash and light long lengths of timber.
  14. A bit of brash moving and timber.
  15. Ok, ok like being hit by a truck.
  16. At least you didn't have to walk through it taller than it looked.
  17. It depends, no need to retrieve a top anchor for starts. I generally use base anchors for 90% of my work but isolate the top anchor just in case.
  18. Pinkie sized bit, are we talking finger sized pinkie or Adam Bourne type pinkie as that could knock your teeth out. Are you using the Prussik to lift it out of the skinny crotch so it's easier to climb back into?
  19. Well alpined in it doesn't shoot down the line.
  20. I was convincing myself it was because I ate that second French fancy the lady brought out.
  21. Yeah if it's alpined it stays where it is. Then again some of my tip redirects are quite small.
  22. Hey Jon, yeah going really well. Busy and healthy so I can't complain. How's the log sales going?
  23. Vermeer 650tx with 9" tracks. Honestly it's one of the best things I've invested in.
  24. Yeah mainly because it's fun. So it gets abused a lot.
  25. £350.00 plus vat for a day and only with me or one of my employees. Lent it out once without and well I think it doubled it's dents and had a few bits lost.
