  1. It's incredible and I feel very privileged to have been able to carry the works out.
  2. We've been very fortunate to have been contacted in by a big forestry firm near us to do the arb work. Such a beautiful place and even I did some tree work today (used the mewp).
  3. We've been using 3 of thier ropes recently. The Barracuda is a good rope to be fair. I quite like the rigging line too.
  4. Pfanner ones seem the best for me in general.
  5. A few recent bits and bobs. The new skid steers been great and getting much more lift capacity has been nice. A large oak that's pretty much dead the lads put 1 in the mewp to clear the branch work towards the tennis court and trees underneath whilst the other 2 climbers knocked out big free fall sections then adding some coronet cuts.
  6. Cheers mick, just a shame the lads get to drive them more than I do these days.
  7. The current lineup of chipping trucks we have.
  8. Thankfully the fuel caps need keys. I may get a big petrol key ring for it though. Its got lots of stickers but....
  9. New machine day for us. We decided to go for a 40hp petrol this time round and I'm fully expecting someone will fill it with diesel within a month. 🤦‍♂️[emoji23]
  10. I'll be honest with you. It all depends on your terms and conditions or if you put a disclaimer on the quote. If no to either of them then it's unlikely he would have to pay you. For example any stuck machinery on ours if its under a day rate the costs are clearly mentioned that those costs are put onto them for recovery and time on site is still owed. If it's at the end of the day then I normally send the team off home and wait for recovery myself. Sometimes free sometimes I charge. If it's a quoted job then it's on me but I do have tracking mats and we use them all the time. But you've got to look at it as your a business and I think John summed it up quite nicely though.
  11. Cheers will, just added over the years really like most people do. But it certainly does make a hot days work slightly better. We had 3 on this site and 3 on another and the other 3 looked shattered from the weather. I'm glad I picked the machinery site [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]
  12. A few from today, knocking over some roadside trees. Mainly Ash [emoji849]...... Nice to be able to just blast it all back in and stack the timber up for the wood fairies or wildlife.
  13. The specs been to leave standing wood in some areas at specified heights. We cut a lot of birch, oak and pine to 6-8m.
  14. Blue sky tree care Ltds grapple saw truck? I'm sure I've seen that on Instagram.
  15. I'd suspect phytophthora ilicis as it seems to be doing what it does. It's a farmhouse/flower growers. The driveway is for the house only, 2 trees are in the front flower bed and the soil is predominantly a sandy brown loam with a low percentage of clay. High Point within the area so quite good at self draining. I hope that helps a bit.
  16. I went and looked at this last night and suspect phytophthora is the culprit, but I've never seen such rapid defoliation over 3 months. Any comments greatly received.
  17. I was just really impressed with our guy Connor as he's got a forester and arb background. I think I said if of messed that up and ruined the timber about 20 times. It's been really interesting learning about the differences between arb and timber work. Although I did feel inspired and found up my logging tape (then modified its design) and he's going to give me some pointers next week.
  18. We had to remove this Douglas fir Thursday. I counted the rings to 138 and the client had a picture from around 1910-1920 with it in. A bit of a shame sadly, so I made a little video.
  19. Not so much today's work, other than putting the video together. The one with the 2 chippers I managed to crash the mewp before we finished. The second one was as far a it got for that day, then I was off site for the next few days. Anyway I hope you enjoy and spot the flying groundy [emoji849]
  20. Apologies for not getting back sooner. I've really pulled off social media a bit. It's salhouse Broad, Norfolk.
  21. Hi Chris, It was £1300 new so I thought it was worth a purchase. I've only spent a day up the yard with it but have been plesently supirsed and prefer it much more than sawing it smaller and lifting them onto the splitter by hand. Trying to convert them into billets instead.
  22. A few recent job pictures, playing up the yard, chipping on very soft ground, not thinking and driving onto dredgings, fishing branches out of the water and loving the reach of the platform. [emoji106]
  23. Couldn't of picked a better day to be working by the broads. Quite a lot of shortening limbs on a few veteran oaks, major deadwood over the paths. I think the last big tree I remember a member on her posing in the large cavity.
